is she showing any interest in food? Is she moving around or just laying around? It could be she was just sick from her stomach, or it could be something more serious, such as worms or parvo. If the vomitting continues i would take her to the vet.

Chihuahuas can have nervous temperments. Has your chihuahua been left alone a lot lately?

Dogs will also eat grass to enduce vomitting. It is their natural answer when their stomach is upset. If your dog ate grass recently that will cause her to throw up. If this is severe vomitting I would highly recommend calling a vet immediately (emergency vets are very helpful...even if you don't take her in, they can help you properly assess the situation and offer some suggestions regarding what you can do). Make sure your dog is getting enough water as vomitting can cause dehydration, especially in smaller breeds. I have a larger breed dog and he has had an upset stomach before (repetetive vomitting for an entire evening). I know how terrifying that can be. I crumbled up a tums using two spoons and gave him that to help calm his stomach down. Since your dog is a much smaller breed, if you choose to do this, just give her a small amount...I would say one fourth of a tums. Yes, it is safe to give your dog a small amount of TUMS or pepto bismol. This was confirmed by a vet. Just because these things are packaged for human consumption does not mean they will automatically hurt your dog. Some things that will....chocolate (especially dark), cherry pits, mushrooms are not great for dogs, large amounts of ham is not good for dogs (I know I was surprised too), poultry bones (they can splinter in a dog's throat). There are other things as well, but those are a few that are good to know about. I hope this info helps!

Vomiting can have many sources.

If she only started vomiting, she may have eaten something bad or caught a tummy bug. Give her some gatorade to drink (small amounts) and see if she gets better on her own. If she won't drink or eat on her own, you should force-feed her fluids so she doesn't dehydrate. Use a syringe (without a needle) and force about a teaspoon of Gatorade into the back of her mouth every two to four hours. If she can't hold even a teaspoon of fluids down, taker her to the vet right away.

If she is not better in a day or two, she needs to go to the vet.

If you see blood in her vomit, taker her to the vet right away.
If the vomit smells like a bowel movement, she probably has an intestinal blockage and needs to go to the vet right away.

I need more info.
How old is the dog. Puppies that are not vaccinated get Parvo.
What do you feed her and has she eaten anything unusual recently (today or yesterday)? Dogs get upset tummies if they eat something disagreeable, just like people. Even new food can cause vomiting. She could have eaten something and not be able to pass it out the other end.
Hope this helps. I would be happy to help you further, I just need more details about her.

Chihuahua's have very, very small stomach's and you should not keep food or water down for them at all times.
Feed her a small portion a couple of times a day and then pick up the bowl.
If you are leaving the food bowl down then I would say that she is eating/drinking to much at one time and then throwing it up.
Also make sure you are getting tiny bite sized dog food for her.

And especially with this hot weather, if a dog is outside and gets extremely hot and comes in the house, goes to the water bowl, it is going to drink to much water at once trying to cool down, and that will make a dog throw up no matter what kind of dog it is.

Just like a human will get sick if they have been in the heat and then comes in the house and drinks alot of water to fast.

She may have eaten something she shouldn't have. Is she lathargic? Not eating? Please take her to the vet right away. They will probably give her some medication and also suggest to either have her fast for a day or just give her something simple such as rice and chicken. Good luck and I hope she feels better!

She could have gotten into something. She could have a blockage or just a virus. If it continues I would definitely get in touch with your vet for bloodwork or anti-nausea meds.
