highlights/lowlights?

what is the difference and which one is better?

Highlights are shades of blonde and gold while lowlights are shades of red and brown.

Neither one is better than the other. It all depends on if you want lighter shades in your hair or darker shades in your hair.

Hilights are streaks that are lighter than your hair. Lowlights are streaks that are darker than you color. Think Christina Auguleras dark streaks on blonde.That's an extremt case, but you get the point. As for which is better-it's all in what you want. Sometimes it is great to have some of both. You just need to look at some pics of different color and higlights and see what you like. A stylist will tell you how to get the look. The big look was reddish low lights with lighter blonde highlights.

I agree with Beth...but remeber if you want to get either highlights or lowlights, try to coordiate the colors with your current hair color, your skin tone and you eye color. That way its looks nice, and not like a fool

highlights are when you put blonde (or lighter colour) streaks or chunks in your hair. Lowlights is when you put darker colour streaks or chunks in your hair. It depends on your hair colour. I have both in my hair. I have blonde highlights and red lowlights, on my natural brown hair.

Highlights brighten, while low lights don't necessarily darken but basically along with the high lights provided more dimension to your hair. I have them and you don't notice the low lights but if you had a comparison you would say that my hair looks better with both, because it has more dimension especially since I have thin hair.
