I believe the Bible because I know in my heart that it is true - there is proof of His existence all around you, just look. The physical proof of God is the empty Tomb and Creation itself.
My religion is definitely not a fiction story not only because God's Word is true but also because I don't see Christianity as a religion but a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
We can directly contact God every day through our prayers - anyone can pray, as to whether you receive a direct answer or not depends on Him. God speaks to us directly through His Word and His Spirit.
I do not think that God does not contact everyone individually nor do I believe that He sends a prophet every 1000 years.

I was raised a Christian but when I got to the age that I could read the Bible for myself, I began to notice inconsistencies between the Old and New Testaments. I started to study Judaism, and actually studied and practiced it for almost 10 years, before I also realized they were serious problems in the Old Testament that could not be resolved satisfactorily. So I then started to study all the world's religions and decided that there is actually much truth in all the religions, but I would not say that any of them is 100% literally true. I think they have a lot of metaphorical truths.
I am now a Hindu. I experience what I believe is the presence of God, but if it is not God, then perhaps it is merely my higher self that I am experiencing. Whatever it is, I am satisfied with my experiences and the way that this enhances my life.

God does contact people individually, he has contacted me several times. He doesn't whisper, he shouts. He basically hits me upside the head with a 2 by, thank God! When I have not been listening well. The key is listening. Talk to Him. Listen. You may or may not like the answers.
I do not need proof, I have faith. the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
One of the great things about God is, he believes in you even if you don't believe in Him, or yourself. He loves you. He has given you the gift of the Bible. Read it, and don't just trust anonymous people on the internet. God will reveal to you what He wishes to as you study with a sincere heart. Do you want Him to speak to you? If you are ready, pray, and listen. God bless you.

I have felt the over whelming presences of God on 5 different occasions in the past 15 years. If you are born again-you know it. An encounter with God gives you enough spiritual fuel to run on til you die. When he talked to me-he told me simple things I needed to know. I knew when I got the answer that it was from God.
I have also felt the deceiving presence of evil. It could have been Satan, or maybe a demon. It was powerful and convincing. Evil persuaded me not to act on information God had given me. I "felt' as though I was doing the right thing, but I was wrong. The next day events occured that proved that God had spoken to me, and that I had listened to the devil. It is unfortunate. God had given me information that could have saved a persons life. I had prayed and asked for guidence, when it came I was overjoyed. But before I could act on it, Satan put doubts in my mind, and I withheld the information. Satan is so clever. You will never know Satan has spoiled you until its too late to help it. Doubt is the enemy of faith. James says in chapter 1
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
James 1:5-8 (NIV)
When God talks to us we must believe and not doubt-or else we will become unstable and double-minded. We will not know what to do.
Yes, I have talked to God, and he has talked to me.

Interestingly enough, it sort of was the other way around for me. It was only when I was in my 40's and began going to a bible teaching church, and began bible study, that I came to believe the bible was truly inspired by God. It's been ten years that I've been in bible study. I can't say I've ever "physically" seen God or a manifestation of God in the physical, no. But He has taught me through His word, been there when I was in prayer to Him, and "revealed" Himself to me a hundred different ways, in ways you can't see.
I can't convince anyone what I believe is the truth for them. I can only say that, I believe the bible is true, I believe the claims of Jesus Christ. I am without doubt that all God has said, He will perform.
Actually, I don't know one born again Christian who doesn't have a similar experience of God "speaking" to them in various ways. So He does "contact" people "individually". Just not in what are "conventional" ways.
Best wishes, thank you for interesting questions.

Yes, I have felt God's spirit a lot of times in my life. The one I will tell you, was the strongest experience I have had so far. I was having a miscarriage in a new big city my husband, me and children had moved to. I was about 5 months along. I didn't have a Dr yet, being new to the area, so my husband took me to the closest hospital, and I was admitted. He had just started a new job and they would not give him the time off, to stay at the hospital with me. We needed his job, so we made the only decision we could. I was all alone, and I was losing lots of blood. They wanted to do a DnC on me and abort the baby, instead of allowing me to go threw a miscarriage. Being a "Jehovah Witness" I could not allow this to happen. If I had signed the consent form, them I would of been agreeing to a abortion, which we do not believe in. Finally, they wanted to give me a blood transfusion, which I had to also deny. I was having to deal with this all by my self, and but up with the opposition of the staff. No one was making my choices easy and I was bullied to a certain degree, with no one around, running defense for me. I never in my life felt so all alone. Me against the World. I prayed for strength and courage to get thru this horrible ordeal. I was dealing with the loss of a child, the blood issue, and being critizied for standing up for what I believed in. I remember thinking, I couldn't take much more, and I was even trying to justifie letting them do what they had to do. Precisely, at that moment, a stranger walked into my room, holding a bible I was very familiar with, and told me they had heard about me and the problems I was having, and they had come to help support me. I knew then, God was going to take care of everything. I never in my life had a feeling, like what came over me, when I knew I was no longer going to have to fight this alone. Some great samiartian on staff, contacted someone they knew that was a Jehovah Witness, and this person, dropped everything to come take care of a fellow Witness, they did not know. It seems like from the experiences I have encountered, that when you think you have nothing more to give, and you are at your wit's end, God always intervines at that point and takes over. I have been taught all my life that God only puts on us what we can handle. I know from experience that is so true. I never knew who called this "JW" for me, and never got to properlytthank the "JW" for helping me, because I got transfered to another hospital, and assigned another Dr. that respected my decisions. So, I just "thank" Jehovah for hearing my prayers and for sending these wonderful people, to help me.

Just look around buddy. The beauty of the earth, the mysteries and complexities of the universe and human mind, the constant battle between good and evil, there is obviously a supreme being behind it all. And i have felt god before, he hasnt exactly spoken to me nor have i seen him but i have felt him, and it feels good to know he's looking out for you. Don't doubt it, if there's one thing that has stuck for all humanity its God and religion, he's as much a part of us as drinking water and breathing air.

Listen, u don't need to prove that your religon is real or not. At the end you will find out if ur religon is true or not. What the heck, can't we dedicate atleast 1 hour of 24 hours 2 God? In my opinion it's not really much 2 ask 4.
