I spend about $50-$100 a month. Bought a set of clubs off of ebay, cost $100. I do not make anywhere near $100k a year. You can find some good municipal courses in my area for MUCH less than $50 a round.

I play 2-3 round a month which in my area costs me anywhere from $90.00-150.00 depending on the courses I play. T be honest with you I make very little money since I recently opened my own business. If you are just starting out in the game there is noreason to buy top of the line clubs or play at the best courses. Go out and get yourself a decent set of clubs for 300-500 and play at the cheaper courses. Find out if you really enjoy the game or not, but really give it a chance. I have been playing for 10 years and attened a few golf schools which has really improved my game. Talk to the pro at your local driving range about lessons and even about picking up a good used set of clubs. This way you can entger the game on the low end.
I would disagree that it is the most hyped up sport in the world, but it is growing. My brother is an investment banker in NYC, and he does do a lot of business through golf games. As a result he spends 10's or thousands a year on the game.

Golf doesnt have to be a very rich man's game- it is expensive but im 13 and i have enough money to have the best clubs there are, Callaway (in my mind anyways) and play twice or three times a week, I know i don't have any expenses as a thirteen year old but still, golf is as expensive- or as cheap as you want to make it.
Once you buy your equipment besides balls and tees thats a one time cost, you dont necessarily need to go to the driving range to get better, you can practice your short game at home( this will help you more than going to the driving range as the short game is the place where you can save the most strokes) as for the green fees- you don't need a cart unless the course requires you have one or you are just lazy and i'm sure there are courses near you that don't cost as much as the one your talking about.

I spend 18-24 bucks per round and I walk.
It can cost alot, as any sport can. I find it challenging. I play courses suited to my game, not the pros who design some of them (450 yrd par 4s? fahgettboutit.) The longest course I'd play is maybe 6200 yrds.

I do not like golf. Mini golf is fun though. I think it is way too expensive, you usually need to find someone to go with you, and yeah, its just too much of a hassle.

I walk and spend an average of $25 per round. Yes, it can add up but then again any sport if taken seriously can add up.

well there are extremes, 2-3 hours of gameing and t.v a day is a good balance. but i think it depends on where you live. i think during the winter you should be able to play more and during the summer stay the same. but also one thing is that video games can contribute to near sight. the strain on our eyes makes it harder to see long distances. (My eyes have been getting worse becuase of typeing on the computer a lot)
