it's not normal, but it's no big deal.
You're the only one I have ever heard of like this. .
You have to decide what you want, tho', and whether not driving will affect your life adversely.
In the West (in the US, anyway), driving is considered by most people to be very essential, and we feel helpless if we can't just get in the car and go somewhere when we want. .
In Europe, people don't need to drive, generally, cause public transit is everything. .
I think that, if you're in the US, you will have to decide at some point if you really don't want to drive, or if you can get by without driving. .
If it were me, I think I'd want to so badly I would just set my mind to practicing and becomming a better driver.
I truly believe you can if you really want to.
Maybe you don't want to. . and that's alright. .

No. You are not the only person who has felt this way. Don't be so hard on yourself. Try practicing in an empty school parking lot. Bring a licensed calming friend or relative. While riding shot gun, watch the driver as they make their turns on the road. Practice with a friend at the crack of dawn when there is hardly anyone on the road. PRACTICE! That is how I finally got my license. Sure there are some days that I wish I had a personal driver but nothing feels better than being able to just grab those keys and GO! And I always say a prayer before I leave. I know you will get it girl. Good Luck.

It must be normal, there was somone on here earlier asking the same thing and I'm gonna tell you the same thing that I told this person, you have to conquer it. The more you do it, the easier it gets. Maybe you have had tons of practice, but is it every day? You need to do it everyday and make it something you are so used to doing, like waking up and brushing your teeth, or going to the bathroom. You have to just force yourself to get used to it. Practice, practice practice those turns. You'll get it. Then, you'll love to drive. Don't end up like my mother-in-law. She is 40 years old, was also really scared her whole life to drive so she never got her license. Now, her husband wants to leave her, and she is forced to learn at the age of 40, how to drive. It is an awful experience. You don't want to burden everyone by asking for rides all the time do you? She hates it! But now, she really regrets not learning and conquering her fear earlier.

Once upon a time I flt just like you maybe even worse.I was so scared,I was crap at driving and l thought that I would hurt someone with my bad driving. You just have to practise driving where you feel comfortable, and where you know the roads, then as you get more confidence then you can drive on roads not so familiar.I had a fear for so long.I am now 32,l have only been on my L's for 6 months and going for my P's in 3 weeks time.Hope it all works out well for you.

You'll never learn to drive with that negative attitude. It's not that bad and you're probably worrying too much about it.
It's best to know how to drive even if you don't drive regularly because there will always be situations where it is useful. Once you're licensed, you should practice it occasionally so that you keep your skills up and so that you don't let yourself get scared again.

im 19 and i have my own car (given to me for my graduation last year) but i still dont have a license. im scared to be on the road and it makes me nervous to know that not only am I responsible to cause a wreck, but everyone else in vehicles around me can hit me as well. i can drive fine, its just getting into parking lot spaces and backing out of the spaces is where i fail. i cant get the hand/eye coordination correct and i seem to forget how long my car is in the front.
your not the only one that feels that way.

Don't worry about it.
I'm 35 and still don't drive. I've always had a phobia about getting behind the wheel.
When you're ready, you'll do it.
I personally walk, take mass transit, or get friends and family to take me places for a fee.
It's no biggie

No, you just fear being different. Ride a bike around and get powerful legs to beat up people who call you dumb.
