Do you Christians really believe that if I, as a Jew, believe in God but not Jesus and uphold God's laws as best as I can and be as good of a person as I can (with a few slip-ups here and there, of course) that I'll be sent to hell anyway?

I'm not just talking Catholics, mind you.

This is a very complex issue as it has many exceptions. I am Roman Catholic and to answer your question the answer is No. If you live as a good person and follow God's laws you will achieve eternal life. But what we believe as Catholics is that, if you truly know that Jesus was the Messiah, and that only through him can you be saved, but you reject for whatever reason, be it previous beliefs or other factors, you will not be saved. So again, if you live a moral life and live for God without greater knowledge of the way things are, then you will get to heaven.

No, not what I have been taught. I do not pretend to know how you will be judged. wether that is hell or just a smaller mansion. But if you believe in the Bible you have to believe in the whole thing even if some of it is hard to swallow. Jesus is the messiah, all the signs are there. I think that to many Jews think that they are getting the blame for his crusifixion but let me tell you this. Jews were an important part in what he did for us and you are still his chosen people. Read the New Testament and see how much Jesus loves you. I love you. I am a Christian. I do not wish to see anyone sent to hell for any reason and again I have no idea what God has planned for you but It says that no one sees the father except through Him. he is the way the truth and the life. all good things. Seek him and you will find the truth.
God Bless

Actually, I'm part of the catholic church, and they (at least at my parish) teach that the LORD made a covenant with the Jews which lasts until the end. However, (and this makes me seems like a total ******, but I must continue to search) I am not sure whether I agree with the church on this. I think you, as a Jew, will understand that we both consider the old testament Holy. Furthermore, there are certain 'things' (for lack of a better word) that are said in the Bible that we have to plain out believe with out seeing. We have to believe in the holiness of the Bible. We have to have faith in its true-ness.

the catholic christian faith (all encompassing) holds the new testament as holy. The jews do not. That you know. We consider the new testament equally, if not more, holy than the old testament. In the new testament, In John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

"...comes to the father..." seems to be straight forward, but it isn't. If it means 'goes to heaven' then, as a christian (and I'm only speaking for myself, not the catholic church) I have to believe that only someone that goes through Jesus, goes to heaven. Now we can debate on what 'through Jesus' means, but that is a different question

what?! Catholics doen't think you'll go to Hell!!!!!we have never been taught that! I think you have some false information! we respect every religion, be it atheism or buhdism. you have the right as a human to believ what you wish, since I was young, I have always been taught that if the person is generally a good person, and dies without mortal sin on thier soukls, then they'll make it to Heaven. unfortunatly, many Catholics don't study the original chatechism, so they are mixed up about some things. If you are a good person, then I believe you will make it to Heaven! goodness! the prophets and all were Jewish! Job was jewish, and we know they made it! well, hope I answered for you from a good perspective, one which maybe you havn't heard....please don't judge Catholics until you hear from one what thye believ about a certain subjet, because it only adds to the confusion!

:D

Yes you will be sent to Hell because we are all cursed and doing good deeds won't save you. It doesn't matter who you are or what religion you decide to practice because there is only one God and He is a jealous God that says that you will have no gods before me. God is also the Trinity meaning the Father, the Son of God, and the Holy Ghost. All three have equal power. All sins can be forgiven except blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. That means you cannot commit suicide because you are made in God's image and to kill yourself is blasphemy. Jesus Christ came to earth as an example to follow and then His mission which was to die on the cross to pay for all our sins with His blood which is the only way to pay for our sins was complete and then He ascended to Heaven. So if you do not believe in God then you don't believe in anything else either. There is no grey area here. Either you have faith in Jesus Christ as your savior or you don't. You have to make up your mind before Christ returns and it is too late.

I believe, as a Christian, that we follow a "just" God. He will decide your salvation. The Bible does hold righteous people in high regard. Many Jews are righteous people.

The Bible also states: For it is by grace you have been save - through faith. And this not from yourselves. It is a gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast.

In other words, you cannot earn your salvation simply from upholding God's laws or by being "good".

Jews are the chosen people. Even Paul said the Geniles get annexed because of Jesus.

You can be the original or a substitute!

I don't get Christians and I'm a believer of Jesus.

Hey Christains: JESUS WAS A JEW does that mean he doesn't go to heaven!

Jesus was also Baptized by a Baptist, if you weren't does that mean you DON'T HAVE THE HOLY SPRIT!

Better think about it!

What we believe here is that the salvation came through the Messiah. I'm no expert in the Jewish faith, but am I correct that they believe there will one day be a messiah?

In the Old Testament it talks about that God required a blood sacrifice for the sins of his chosen people. That sacrifice became the substitute for their sins. By offering his son's death, burial, and resurrection, it paid the price for our sins.

We have to have payment for our sins because no matter how hard you try, you and I are not perfect. So that required a sacrifice. So, I'm sorry, no matter how good you are, you can't be perfect, which means that a payment is required for your sins.

Judaism = People of Judah, a single race
Christains = People who worship the Christ
Islam = People who submit to God

Which one makes more sense. A religion based on a single person/race? Or one that's associated with the CREATOR and not the creations.

Jews were the chosen one, but because they went astray, God sent the Christ as a prophet. But when his followers went astray, God sent Muhammad (peace be upon him). When muslims go astray, the world will come to an end.

Do you think that God will leave you living in a lie when you truly seek Him? Think about what kind of picture you have of God. Jesus said, would you give stones to your children for bread? How much more will God give you the good things. God wont give you lies for truth if you honestly look for Him.

The problem is not the doctrine you dont believe, its the condition of the heart. So Yes, if you doint believe in Jesus you will go lost, because God is able to show you the truth.

Jesus said, my sheep will hear my voice. And also that He will draw them near to Him, and that no one will robe them from His hand. And that the Holy Spirit will lead us to the truth. Lots more, but you get the picture...
