No, it won't do any good, as they will just flop over and look silly..They will not stand if done after 12 weeks old...14 weeks at the latest.

in my opinion, that's in simple terms too late now to crop your Danes ears. 4 months is unquestionably too late! All yet considered one of my Danes have been cropped at 8 weeks, which replaced into cropped at 10 weeks. i replaced into in no way able to get his ears to thoroughly stand. of direction, I had a instruct crop completed that's longer and extra not hardship-free to get to stand. a lot of human beings that don't instruct their canines, yet nonetheless like the look of a cropped ear, will determine on a shorter crop. Please additionally do not forget that my 14 month previous Dane continues to be in tapes. specific, i've got been taping her ears for a 12 months. while you're actually not keen to commit the time to tape, do not hardship cropping the ears. there isn't something extra mindless than putting your domestic dog in the process the surgical technique after which not appearing the right aftercare. Even a quick crop can take countless months of taping to stand. i'm not attempting to be impolite, however the time to learn ear cropping replaced into till now you got your domestic dog. there is an extremely short window for cropping. Ear cropping is an artwork style. very few vets do it, or perhaps fewer do it wisely. in simple terms by using fact a vet has cropped a boxer would not propose that your Danes crop will look large. i'm additionally curious why you got a Dane in case you do not in basic terms like the look of drop ears, yet i assume it rather is not probable the subject handy. good luck!

No respectable vet will do this after 12 to 14 weeks of age. It is dangerous and will not turn out right after that.

And to the lady that said that it is cruel to crop ears( and it would be at 2yrs. old, but as a puppy?) and that it is strictly cosmetic, that may be mostly true but so is lipstick and combing your hair, but are you going to stop doing it since they do not serve a purpose? I own a kennel and I crop some of my dogs ears and I see nothing wrong with it when done properly by a professional!

Yes, you can have them cropped even at 2 years of age. The problem is, will they look like you want them to look. After 2 years the cartilages in the ear flap has crimped. The ears will heal but may leave the "Flying Nun" look. At that point you may be looking at a second surgery to insert stays to keep them standing.

Hypothetically, yes. But at that age, bleeing will be more extensive, recovery harder, and they may not heal or stand as well. You may also have a hard time finding a vet who will do it at that age, many don't do it all anymore. My question is why? The only reason for cropping is looks, and the dog dont care how it looks. If your doing it only for yourself, thats probably the wrong reason.

Technically, yes. But, it's extremely cruel - they actually CUT OFF 2/3 of the ear! It's strictly cosmetic, and has very high surgical risks. Cropping is actually ILLEGAL in most of europe - and for good reason.

Cropping any animals ears is cruel and should not be done.
They have them for a reason and cropping is done purely as a cosmetic measure.

You can, but it won't be the same result. The ears will not train and won't look like a puppy's would!!!

But, please don't.......its so cruel and the recovery is horrible (especially for a dog that age! Don't you love your dog just the way he/she is??? Personally, I like dog's w/out their ears cropped!

There is no real reason to crop the ears, so why bother?
