depends on the type of dog you want to buy and the amount of training received and the breeder and the background. If you want a dog from which you don't care about its background (parents/grandparents) than you can find one for somewhere between 300-800. The downfall is you don't know if the dog has any genetic problems that could be passed down from the parents. Now, if you want a pedigreed dog, expect to pay NO LESS than 1000. Here, you'll know that the parents are pure breed and that the parents are certified as good breeders by the AKC. If you want a puppy, you'll pay less because.... well... they are puppies and dont know anything. If you want a trained dog, they are usually titled in Schutzhund. Schutzhund 1,2,3 and A are working titles for true working lines German Shepherd Dogs (GSD). For a Schutzhund (Sch) 1, expect to pay no less than $2500-$4000 depending on the breeder. For Sch 2, no less than $4000-8000. For Sch 3, NO LESS than $9000-15000. Sch 3 is the highest level and in Germany, a stud dog MUST be AT LEAST Sch 2/3 to be used for breeding. For adult dogs, you are paying for the dog and the training. For a pup, you pay for a pup or "green dog". For american standards or show dogs/family dogs, they are cheaper but 90% of the time can not be used for protection work.

It depends upon where you get the dog from, the breeder and bloodlines. IF you want a pure bred Shepherd from reputable breeder it is not unknown to pay over $1000.
If you want a pet shepherd, look around in pet shops, rescue shelters and local advertisements.
I currently have a Belgian Shepherd, he is pedigree and should have been $900 Aus, however he was a rescue dog so I got him for free. It involved a lot of hard work getting his health back and him gaining my trust, but he is the best dog ever.

Good working line pup around $800.00
Good DDR working line or imported pup $1,200 - $ 1,500
Green dog ready for police/protection training $ 4,500
Fully trained protection dog $ 9,500 and up
Narcotic dog $ 7,500 and up
Well, you can get Shepherd from shelter for almost nothing or you can find no-papered Shepherd for $ 50- 300. There are no-limit on dog price.
** For Vail2074** Schutzhund is not for just working line. In Germany, SV requires all GSD to be titled ,at least VH1(used to be Schutzhund) ,before breeding. Show line or working line. The studs don't require VH2,VH3. Just VH1. but they must score more than 80 points on Protection. When we said Green-dog, it's a dog already biting sleeve full and hard, no problem with all kind of floors, Solid fighting drive dogs. Many of them come with little bit of Obed.

If you watch in the paper you will sometimes find them free to a good home. They may not have papers but unless you intend to breed them that should not matter. You will pay a lot more at a pet store than out of the paper.

G-E-R-M-A-N S-H-E-P-H-E-R-D... learn what the breed is termed & the thank you to spell it properly, then you definitely can do a sprint learn on it. It relies upon, there is not any set cost for any sort of dogs or pup. make certain you circulate to an excellent & registered breeder or a shelter, don't get one out of the paper from a BYB and don't get one from a puppy shop..

it depends on where you get the dog from, from a breeder it would be very expensive, a shlter or rescue would be much cheaper.
