Do you maintain your vehicle properly?

I've leased a '96 Ford Probe and '98 Ford Explorer and owned a 2000 Taurus and currently a 2004 Freestar. All of them have been great cars. The Probe's only problem was my windshield cracked two different times and an emissions issue that they fixed right away under warranty. The Explorer was great - no problems. I loved my Taurus but now I have two kids so I traded it in for a minivan. In the 4 years I had the Taurus, I had to get two new tires and have the brakes worked on. I maintained it well - oil changes every 5000 miles, tire rotations every 10,000 and the other normal maintenance at 25,000 miles, etc. I think I had to take it in for some minor recall work. I can't remember what the issue was but Ford contacted me before I had a problem. I actually like the minivan much better than I thought I would. It has great pick-up. I used to work for Ford. I don't work there any more but I believe in the product and will continue to buy them.

It's just you. Look around at taxis. airport shuttle services. ambulances, police cars. Almost all are Fords. Why would these companies go with Ford? If chevys are the best built, longest lasting trucks on the road, why do these companies buy Ford?

Every car maker has problems, not just American companies. My family has had fords for as long as I can remember.

Tempo with 125k miles on it but then it was totaled - but no probs

1991 escort that went 163k and then mom put oil in the radiator - Doh!

1996 taurus that went 165k before it was totaled - no probs

1997 escort with 83k miles on it before it was totaled - no probs

2001 mustang with 134k miles on it and no probs so far, still have it

2005 explorer with 45k miles so far no problems

2005 mustang gt with 36k miles no probs so far

It seems our family has a history of totaling our cars now that i think about it lol, don't know what to think about that :/

Fords are no worse than any other car or truck. My best car was a Ford Escort.

Any one that thinks one make of car is better than another is very foolish. Find what you like and take care of it and it will last as long as you need it to. I love Fords and since the Jap cars have came along I love any thing Built in America even Chevys. wow I don't think I said that.

I've had the best luck with Fords. I think it depends on how the car was treated before you got it.
