I will not be the judge of what another believes. Only God will do that. But I will say that I have seen nothing in the people of that faith that has been anything like all the propaganda I've heard from other Christians. A very close friend of mine who was Southern Baptist and a founder of a large church here converted to Mormonism. I don't agree with her reasons but they have helped her alot. But also they have the same problems all the other christian denominations have. As for me, I will only follow Christ Jesus and what He teaches me. But if He reveals that the Mormons are not that far off base, then I won't ague with Him. But I don't see that happening. We should all get along. We are all brothers and sisters on this planet. Let us heal the riffs.

Most of the people who have answered this question are really shallow thinkers. They are pointing out what they find as faults they find within the LDS faith. I would assume that most of them have done very little research of religion outside their own. The LDS faith teaches nothing that conflicts with common Christian beliefs. They are attacked for it constantly, but the truth is, it all fits, and most of it even makes sense. They believe just about everything every other common Christian church believes, but they have extra teachings. These do not conflict with the truth. Some beliefs, such as the trinity and priesthood may be uncommon between one christian faith and the LDS faith, but you'll find that every christian faith has differences with eachother.
Every religion is different, but that doesn't mean false teachings, exactly. True, it CAN, but it doesn't ALWAYS. I could teach that an orange is round. You can teach that an orange is orange in color. These don't conflict, and are both true.

I have a question for most of the people who answered above me. Have you read any of the teachings of the LDS faith? I don't think so.
We are Christians, mostly the same as any other Christian church, we use the bible, the same bible as most churches. We may use another book, but if you read all the books and make a timeline of what happened and where, you will see it matches up almost perfectly.
For you people who say LDS worship a different god, why do we us the same Bible as you?
For those who say we polygamists, we abolished that a long time ago and any poligamists are NOT part of our church.
I might be LDS and believe we are true, but I'm still open to any other religion. If any of you had a religion and brought it up to me and it seemed true, I would look into it. I respect all relgions.

I'm not sure that I would qualify their doctrines as false teaching but I would definitely state that they are not teaching the Christian faith as provided for from the Bible. I guess the short answer should be, is the tooth fairy real?
A quote from their founding Prophet Joseph Smith, Jr.: "Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go." (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408, 409)
I have noted others who have answered this question who indicated the Book of Mormon tells of a history... After much research I would most definitely disagree. It is nothing other than a creation by the boasting uneducated man in the quote above who founded their faith. His other "works" those contained in the Pearl of Great Price, such as the Book of Moses and the Book of Abraham are also creations of his. Knowing the voracity of his other works can one deem his "revelations" to be any more real than the others? Does the common Mormon know that the Book of Abraham was translated from Egyptian papryi which contained text from the Book of Breathings (an abbreviated version of the Book of the Dead)? Does the common Mormon know that nothing has been found in the archaeological record which can support anything which has been documented in the Book of Mormon, unlike the multitude of findings which support Biblical writings? Has the common Mormon critically researched their religion and history of their church? I know I did and after doing such removed myself from their membership rolls, understanding that what they "teach" is not what Christ and God have left for us to learn from in the Bible.
False? If they are claiming it to be Christian, then yes, it is false. If they are claiming it to be just their teachings, then no, it is just their teachings. Is it something that an intelligent, thinking being could believe in? Absolutely not!

Mormon was a great prophet, historian, and leader that lived on the American continent about 400 AD. We don't have much of his teachings, although he compiled most of the writings that are now contained in the Book of Mormon (named after him)
Here is a quote from his son, Moroni, " Condemn me not because of mine imperfection, neither my father, because of his imperfection, neither them who have written before him; but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been. " (Mormon 9:31)
Moroni knew that he and his father, Mormon, were imperfect. So I assume that maybe some of Mormons teachings might have been false. But he was still a prophet of God and taught the gospel as best as he could, with the Lord's help. I'll be forever grateful to him and the work that he did.

I guess you'll just have to ask God. He would know better than anyone else answering this question. The promise is that God will answer the prayers of any sincere seeker of truth. I recommend you read the Book of Mormon, and ask God if it is true. And don't rely on the falsehoods that are often circulated by those who don't like the Church; for whatever reason people like to spread lies about what Mormons actually believe.

Mormonism is true satanic teaching and false Christianity.
Mormonism is a spiritistic, occult religion. It has an occult origin, promotes occult theology and philosophy, and continues to promote occult practices such as contact with the dead.
for many Mormons, "true" religion involves not only ministering to the spirits of the dead by proxy baptism, but also receiving guidance and instruction from spirits of the dead for spiritual growth.
The Mormon practice of contacting the dead is little different-in nature or consequence-than similar practices found in the world of the occult. Nor is there any doubt that the spirits who claim to be the dead are really lying spirits the Bible identifies as demons.
Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (NIV), God commands His people to avoid all forms of contact with the dead: "Let no one be found among you...who practices divination or sorcery...engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord..."
In spite of this warning, the dead have always played a major role in the practice of Mormonism.

Although I personally don't know any of them, I have read the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants.
As I understand, they are not different from any other religions. The truth is still away for all of them. But there are few who finds it being among the groups (religions).
Through any church or religions we are getting partly true and partly false doctrines. Latter day Saints are just one among those churches.

I can only say that I absolutely second everything that baurmudatria said. Yes it is. anything you point out to them as a false statement by Joseph smith they will simply make up some other excuse and you end up in this horrible forever circle of arguements. No point. They also sing about Joseph Smith not Gods love or sacrifice. They are a false teaching but I think the saddest thing is that many of them mean well enough. just it is such a tight nit community that if you step outside of it you may loose your family and friends completely because the church tells them not to talk to you. that is control in the worst way.

Anything that does not teach be saved by the Grace of God through Faith, is false teaching. There is only one way to Heaven. You must be Born again. (saved). It is by the Blood of Jesus. There is a Heaven, and there is a hell. Heaven is for the saved people. Hell is for the lost people. Good works does not take you to Heaven. Being saved does.
