i usually tip the lady 3 dollars for a shampoo

It all depends on what you're getting done and how much of the work she/he is doing and how satisfied you are with the service.

Just a regular shampoo at least $2 and $3 if you're getting any kind of conditioning treatment or color rinse

Perms, if they are doing everything except wrapping the perm at least $5

Single process colors or Highlights (especially foils) $5 to $10

When I go to get my hair done, I usually get it shampooed, cut, and sometimes styled, but my hairdresser is the one who does all 3. I usually only tip one or two bucks, but that is for a bill of $12-$20 depending on if I get it styled or not.

5-10% of the total bill
ex. $45.00 total bill (Cut, Shampoo, Style)10%($4.50)also depends on if you want ot tip each person that worked on your hair then you split 10-15% between them.
