American Muslims?

Based on your experience, how prejudiced are most non-muslim americans against muslim americans?

They tend to be prejudice before they know me. Because I have a scarf on my head they think that I'm from some foreign country. Once they get to know me they realize that I am just a normal person like every other American.

Well, there are some very prejudice people towards Muslim like at school or pretty much anywhere. But, I have no racial or prejudice things about the West and Non-Muslims in America as well as the World. I see a lot of this racism in Yahoo! Answers. I do not blame not a whole group like the people in Yahoo! Answers do and I do not start religious/political debates arguments and lies the people in Yahoo! Answers ask and start. The West will never understand Islam and Muslims. It is going to take a long time until they would understand what truly are Muslims are. Muslims are non-violent, peaceful, community helping people that serves any nation they live in religiously and throught the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Hadiths (Saying of the Prophet (PBUH). Well, we couldn't say ALL because every religion, race, culture, sex, etc. have a good and bad. It is truly immature to blame a whole group especially a religion because one person done something bad. I am proud to be an American Muslim and that I was raised in a great country and I will do anything to help my Nation thrive in the right way not war or anything associated with violence. Even if it has to do with my ethnicity or not. I truly love this Nation just like you do and we should all not see ourselves and segregrate people from race, religion, sex, etc. but as one happy nation. We all should be happy that we grew up in a great nation. I feel that if people should not poke on other people's business like what America, UK and the UN been doing lately like in the Middle East but just be concerned with themselves we could all see a better future. Anyway, if we help the Middle East we would see more violence than before. Bush and Blair has done a big mistake and shouldn't been doing this at the first place. Those hateful Islam-tormenting infidels were brainwashed by evil Arabs and/or Muslims (Not devout but by name) greed for $ and death to those who they dislike. They will get a great punishment from God for the horrific attacks they done not only on the West but Islam. There are some Muslims where I work and everybody is on good terms with them. However, whenever there's another terrorist attack it always starts some angry statements directed at Muslims in general.

I think Americans are pretty tolerant of Muslims they know personally, and prejudiced against Muslims they don't know.

I have to add that I used to live in the Middle East and the people there hated Americans in general, but they were friendly to Americans they knew personallly (like me). So, the same story works both ways.

Up until 9/11, I doubt there was much prejudicial feelings by non-Muslim Americans about Muslims. However, my outrage about Muslims is the fact that we don't here the Muslim leaders, whether in America or elsewhere, in free nations, condemning, unequivocally, terrorism by Muslims. If a substantial member of any civilized community was considered terror-minder or terroristic, we all know well that that community would take every possible way to rid that element of its community.

All we hear, time and time again, is how Islam is such a "peaceful" religion(!) Well, thank Allah Islam is a "peaceful" religion. Can you imagine if it weren't??!

It's time for Muslims to take accountability for their religion and culture. Stop spinning, and address the fact that the Muslim culture is one of the most oppressive and violent cultures, against its own people, and certainly against other cultures.

For those who believe that the extremist element in Islam is small, the numbers are staggering. There are 1.2 billion Muslims in this world. Lets take a very liberal view that only a very small percentage of Muslims are exterme, while the rest of the Muslim world is very peaceful. So if only 10% of Muslims have extreme point of views, and may be a threat, and must be dealt with, meaning dealing with 120 million Muslims! How about 1%? Then you must deal with 12 million Muslims. How about 1/10 of a percent? Then you must deal with 1.2 million Muslims. The numbers are staggering! How do you propose dealing with even the "very low" figures of 1.2 million Muslim extremists?

It would be to the benefit of the World to rid of Hezbollah, Hamas, the Syrian and Iranian regime. It must be done to finally have a chance for peace in the region.
