She is going to be dining with a group of upper level executive (all salaries 6 figures). They are mostly upper management, military background, intelligent, well educated mostly men. She wants to avoid politics and work related issues. Anybody got some ideas about what she could use to get a conversation going with this bunch?

Talk about food, or restaurants that they like to go to...anything light...maybe even their kids?

Ask them about their hobbies- do they like sports? golf? cooking? wine?
She may want to "bone up" on some of those subjects just in case.
Also- I find asking about home improvement gets people talking. They can talk about the projects in "progress" and what they hope to do in the next few years... Like remodel the kitchen, work on the landscaping, etc. This works for me. I live in a older home and we always have repair stories! :)

The easiest thing is to ask open ended questions and follow their lead.
Ask about their favorite vacation, home state, ect. They are just like you and me, believe me. They appreciate the chance to talk "normally" to people.

ASK questions!! People like to talk about themselves. Ask about hobbies, movies they have seen lately, books they have read.
