I agree wholeheartedly that the education system on all levels in this country is one of the most inefficient, mismanaged, and corrupt "industries" there are.

I know. I used to work at a university where tuition for out of sate students was around $16,000 per year. What else can you do, though. You have to look at it as an investment. It really is. That's kind of a catch-22 though. Because people are beginning to see college as an investment some are backing off on offering scholarships. They feel that if it's an investment in a person's future then the student should fund the investment through loans and money from jobs, not free money from scholarships and grants.

I went to University of Arizona. As an out of state student, I was still offered thousands in grants that I never have to pay back. Although the majority of the fiancial aid package is still loans. After 5 years out of school, I'm still $30k in debt.

If you don't want to be stuck like me, take the first two years at a community college to save money. Load up on the gen-ed classes. Some schools will accept the credit transfer but the grades will not transfer. If this is the case, while attending the university, take extra classes at your local community college so you can finish sooner. Since the grade don't transfer, strive for Cs instead of As. Concentrate on getting As in your university classes.

uhmm yeah sorry, universities are all about making money. If you go to a uni that actually cares about their students , then I'd say you're pretty lucky!
