First of all let's clear one thing up........like here in America (supposedly a CHRISTIAN nation) not everyone who is an AMERICAN is a true Christian.......just like all Arab nations....just because they are of Arab origin doesn't mean that they are of the Islamic faith or true to their faith. The Koran does not condone killing, just like our Bible. Athiests, Satanists, agnostics, will "use" the Christian label when it is "convenient" for their cause.....even though they do not believe or practice the Christian religion. The same is true for the Islamic faith. The outrage that these terrorist groups are causing in the Name of Islam are Arab people that are the equivalent to our Athiests, Satanists, Agnostics, etc....they know that by "claiming" to be doing these SINS in the name of Allah that they will stir up.....produce results that are advantageous to their cause from the masses that are true believers of Allah. They are FAKE, UNBELIEVING COWARDS !!! And I think that the only true answer to this mess is to actually educate the people of the Islamic faith into realizing WHAT THE KORAN ACTUALLY SAYS and confronting these cowards and taking true control for their faith. The Islamic religion is alot like our Catholic denomination. Their leaders do not stress to their followers to ACTUALLY READ THE KORAN FOR THEMSELVES.....they tell their followers that it is the leaders responsibility to read and interpret. This is how you UNEDUCATE the masses and CONTROL what they think and do. Sounds an awful lot like what the Anti-Christ will be doing soon. A world of followers is a doomed world.

2:216 Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not. (all muslims must fight)
3:151 We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve
4:76 Those who believe do battle for the cause of Allah; and those who disbelieve do battle for the cause of idols. So fight the minions of the devil.
4:89 They long that ye should disbelieve even as they disbelieve, that ye may be upon a level (with them). So choose not friends from them till they forsake their homes in the way of Allah; if they turn back (to enmity) then take them and kill them wherever ye find them, (kill the unbelievers)
4:91 Ye will find others who desire that they should have security from you, and security from their own folk. So often as they are returned to hostility they are plunged therein. If they keep not aloof from you nor offer you peace nor hold their hands, then take them and kill them wherever ye find them.
4:101 ...In truth the disbelievers are an open enemy to you.
9:73 O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites! Be harsh with them. Their ultimate abode is hell, a hapless journey's end. (fight the disbelievers)
9:123 O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you,
47:4 Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks (off with your head!)
3:118 O ye who believe! Take not for intimates others than your own folk, who would spare no pains to ruin you; they love to hamper you. (don't be friends with non-muslims)
5:51 O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends
8:39 And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is all for Allah.
9:29 Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah (those who have been given scripture are Christians & Jews)
Most of the people defending the Muslim faith are blaming terror on the media. Perhaps you should be blaming terror on the ones that are committing these acts. Perhaps you should be standing up & saying "this is not Islam!" Muslims sit on there hands while a plane crashes into a building or someone detonates themselves on a crowded city street. Those not sitting on their hands with their mouths shut are celebrating the deaths of "infidels". There aren't 1 or 2 "bad" muslims. There are many. We aren't talking about a small cult like the Branch Davidians. Islam is worldwide, it is in your neighborhood. What if your kids/parents/friends were on one of the planes or in the WTC?
Rather than blaming the media, why not go out and tell us what Islam is all about? You can start on this board. A few of us have quoted scripture from the Koran. You say we are misinterpreting it. Please go line by line & tell us how we should read those quotes. We would all like a better understanding.

I come from a muslim background and we are taught via Islamic teachings to cause no harm to others and to yourself and to be kind to your neighbours, the neighbours are not required to be muslim. So these fundamentalist who hold views of supporting terrorists are wrong and they are extremists, they do not represent Islam or the majority of muslims in this world. The media doesn't help the portrayal of Islam and muslims either. I think the terrorists are rebelling against the war in Iraq and Afganistan and that the US provides weapons to Israel even when they are using it to kill people in Palestine and Lebanon. In whichever case war and harm is wrong, it advances nothing and has no positive outcome, it only causes pain and grief. The other thing is that God gave us life and it is only him that can decide when we die not people who decide this, this is why suicide is wrong as well. Fighting is only allowed to defend yourself from someone or in a battle if you fight for Islam out of defense, but not cause the war or fighting, then these people who faught and died for Islam in that sense are martyred and will be granted heaven, with no questions asked. However the fundamentalists are interpreting it as fighting for Islam in the sense of just killing people in the name of Islam and this is wrong, when there is no war, when they infact the terrorists are causing the war themelves. I know I heard about the airports situation in UK, its worrying because people I know are abroad and will return this weekend and I came back from abroad 2 weeks ago! It's worrying and frightening to think of what could of happened! Liquid explosives can't believe it! I can't believe all this is happening when we are supposed to live in a democratic world of peace - a modern world! We are no longer in world war one or two anymore. I don't know of any passage in the Koran.
The other thing is that don't believe everything you hear or see about Islam as some people just want to spread their negativity and narrow mindedness about Islam. If Islam was such a bad religion many people would not be converting to it. It's not the religion that's wrong, it's people. Another thing is that if it does say something about killing in Islam, this should be read carefully and should not be taken out of context.

It doesn't, that is the thing. The way I explain it to people is like this: think of the "muslims" who are blowing things up in the name of Jihad, the same way you would think of David Koresh and the Branch Davidians, or any other radical Christian group who do exterme things-----that's just what they are, extermists. They take the Quran and twist it to mean what they want it to mean to justify their behavior, the same way Christian extremists do with the Bible. As a person who supports a person's right to practice whatever religion, I think it is sad the way that Muslims are portrayed, and it is terrible that these people don't even think enough of their own families or other believers to stop what they are doing. See, behavior like that helps to breed ignorance, and stereotypes, especially when you are dealing with people who have almost no experience with Muslims, or the Islamic culture. That is how you get questions like this one, and comments like some of the ones that have been posted. It's sad, but true, and that is the state of the world right now. (and a p.s. to everyone quoting the Quran, I thought I'd do a little quoting myself, and is in response to those who say the Quran tells Muslims to kill and hate Christians and Jews: "Surely, those who believe, those who are JEWISH, the CHRISTIANS, the CONVERTS; anyone who 1. BELIEVES IN GOD, 2. BELIEVES IN THE HEARAFTER, and 3. LEADS A RIGHTEOUS LIFE, will receive their recompense from their Lord; they have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve" [2:62, 5:69]. Also: "O you who believe, do not befriend those among the recipients of previous scripture (Jews and Christians) who MOCK AND RIDICULE your religion, nor shall you befriend the disbelievers." [5:57]. It doesn't say to hate all Jews and Christians, but only those who may ridicule and mock those who are Muslims. In addition, when quoting, make sure you know in what context you are quoting. Because what I see some people doing is taking select verses, and like the terrorist groups, taking them out of context. Some of what is being quoted has to do with the rules of the contact prayers during war, and what the soilders should do during prayer time during a war with any country, for any reason. Mainly because: you are most vulnerable when you pray, and during wartime, your enemy can sneak up on you, and attack. So there are laws. Be careful when you post verses, and make sure you are not taking select verses to post just to make Muslims look violent.

Nowhere in the Koran does it say that killing innocent people will make Allah happy. Who knows what was going thru those terrorists heads when they were planning those awful things. I hope you won't blame the actions of a handful of individuals on an entire religious group.

It really doesn't say it anywhere in the Koran. Most terrorists (who make up a very small majority of the global Muslim population) either very narrowly interpert the Koran (in much the same way Christians will cite the Bible as saying homosexuality is evil) or make completly unofficial additions which are not recognized by any true Muslim church.

Sopposing Kuran says kill for heaven. So what ? They have an "heavenly" excuse at least.
Christians do it although Bible does not say it (?) right ? Did you not kill the indians of America, the jews of Germany, 200 thousand people in Hiroshima ? Crusades ? etc. etc..
Additions:

THERE ISN'T any word in the Qur'an that says Muslims should kill people for earning a good place in Heaven
BUT God told us in the Qur'an to defend ourselves from the conquerors & invadors & if we died defending, in this case we will earn a good place in the heavens
that what is happening in the Middle East
Isreal conqured two countries (Palastine & Lebanon) & America conqured one country (Iraq), so we must defend ourselves
Hezbollah is the resistance in Lebanon against Isreal, there r also some resistances against Isreal in Palastine, also there r some resistances against America in Iraq, they r NOT terrorists
those resistances defend their countries only
so what do u think about that ??

you purely participate of it, please examine and translate the finished element and not purely one sentence from it. like it says in Surah anfaal (summarize) Allah is an enemy to dibelievers, yet people who do no longer combat with you approximately your faith or take you out of your residences then you could be honest with them and Allah surely loves people who're honest.
