Cindy:I know all about "call no man your father."
Here's some evidence to refute that :
Matthew 3:9
Acts 7:2
1 Cor. 4:14-15
Hebrew 12:7-9
Jesus, Paul, and Stephen, all call other people father. Jesus was talking about power and the earthly or spiritual fatherhood.

I guess you can try to make that claim if you wish, but let's look at the real "Catholic Church."

"Now the Holy Spirit clearly says that in the later times some people will stop believing the faith. They will follow spirits that lie and teachings of demons. Such teachings come from the false words of liars whose consciences are destroyed as if by a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and tell them not to eat certain foods which God created to be eaten with thanks by people who believe and know the truth." (1 Timothy 4:1 - 3 NCV)

So, the church will become corrupted by people whose consciences are destroyed as if by a hot iron. These people will forbid people to marry (Like the Catholics forbidding priests to marry) and tell people not to eat some foods that God has allowed us to eat (Like the Catholic Church does at lent and other special holidays).

"Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God." (2 Thessalonians 2:1 - 4 NKJV)

Paul says there will be a great falling away and a "man of sin" will be revealed. The Catholic Church that we know today is a great falling away from the teachings of Jesus, and the man of sin is none other than the papal system. The pope "opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God."

I am utterly laughing out loud. You neglected to include Peter 1 or 2 in your list!!!!

Might I ask why you do not quote from your so called first pope?

Might it be because if you take the time to read the writings of your "self proclaimed" first pope. You will find that his teachings are inconsistant with the very way you practice your religion.

And if you want to go further in the bible, it states that you are not to say repetative prayers, like the pagens do. So I guess if you want so badly to be included in the bible, you could say that the Catholic church is mentioned quite often, the bible uses the word pagen instead of Catholic though.

Please read more than a verse, read the entire scripture, come to an understanding on this basis, not some misselette that was handed to you at ritual time.

Also look up where it says to call no man Father, because you have only one father, in heaven. Oops there goes your theory on acceptance in the bible. You have some need to place pastors on the level with GOD and your very own bible refutes this.

There are many many more, I have studied this very intently, for I married a Catholic man, and no his soal was not sent to hell for marrying me as his mother would state to this very day. The bible states that God loves us all, and believers get a special relationship with him. No hell for my husband, sorry.

"Jesus was talking about power and the earthly or spiritual fatherhood." I have used your own words here taken directly from your response to me on the father issue. Spiritual fatherhood is exactly what you believe the POPE to have over you. Again the bible states that this is WRONG. Its not a little grey line wrong, its a huge wrong. God is our only spiritual father.

I used to be Catholic- I came from a strong Catholic background and grew up in the Catholic church. Then I got saved through Jesus and now my faith is in the Lord, not in my religion.

I didn't read through your scriptures. We could argue all day about who's right and who's wrong, and I'm sure that every scripture you listed fits nicely into your religion. But do you know Jesus as Lord and Savior? Do you have a relationship with Jesus or does your passion only include the doctrines you hold fast to?

Well, when I was studying History of Christianity we learned that 'catholic' means "universal" which is why they called it the catholic church...I believe because they were trying to distinguish themselves from the eastern orthodox. (?) It was a result of the split at Constantinople.
It's not really a matter of refuting the existance of the Catholic church in the Bible, but a way in which you view the definition of the word, either historically or as a Christian denomination because in much of the history it's just a name for the difference in the beliefs of what the sacraments (baptism, the Lord's supper, etc.) should be. So it would be like the catholic church was trying to differ itself from the Greek Orthodox church just like the Protestants were trying to differ themselves from the Catholics, just because of the different things they thought should be held sacred.

I notice you never say anything about Revelation. Try reading Revelation 17-19. The colors of the Catholic Church are the same as the colors of the Great Harlot Church. Wonder why?

The Catholic Church can trace its Authority directly back to Jesus Christ. All other Christian Churches trace their history back to the Catholic Church, most around the time of the Reformation in the 1500's.

Saint Augustine in the year 392 AD is one of the first to use the name Catholic to describe the Church. However, the term was common before this letter. ie. The Advantage of Believing.

Realize that Saint Jerome had yet to translate the modern Bible into the Latin Vulgate. So the term pre-dates the canon of the Bible.

I can easily without even looking at a single one of the verses you give.

The RCC says that the pope is Gods voice on earth. Okay fine. So historically no pope should have ever said or done something contrary to Gods established word. Yet Popes have taking bribes, sanctioned tortures and murders and forced conversions and paying for forgiveness and changing of sabbath days and adoption of pagan practices given Christian make up(see Christmas and Easter), the unbiblical elevation of Mary and the Saints as a go between man and God, the pagan adoption of the practice of nunery, the creation of graven images...

In fact didnt Martin Luther already nail like 90 of these to the churches door.

The RCC attempts to use the bible to back its cause but it knows that what it stands on is flemsy and usually just resorts to saying Catholics do what they do because of "Tradition"

The church of Christ was established on the day of Pentecost.
The book of Acts will tell you all you need to know. This is just a very small example.

Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

41-Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

(you notice it said added, you can not join the church of Christ. Join the Church of your choice is not in the bible. Join the Church is not in the Bible.

Constantine and Pope Iraenius created the modern Bible and then forced it down the throat of the Council of Nicea in the 5th century. The very purposely left out anything that would lead anyone to believe that an individual could actually pray to God directly. You have to follow the chain of command, from you to priest to saint to Virgin Mary to Jesus and then to God, and then it comes back down the chain of command. Otherwise, God won't listen to you. They purposely left out the Gnostic books because Gnostics knew that God heard their prayers whether they went through the chain of command or prayed themselved. To Gnostics, God has an open door policy. To Catholics and most Protestant sects, God has to be approached through the chain of command
