Weapons that have been used in a crime are destroyed. If it turns out the weapon was originally stolen from some other lawful owner, the weapon will usually be returned to the original owner.
Drugs are destroyed. Whether you believe the story is lame or not, doesn't mean it's not true.
Money is used by the confiscating agency for other police purposes, such as vehicles, equipment, new buildings, etc.
Any other property confiscated, such as vehicles, houses, etc., will be auctioned off, and that money in turn is used by the confiscating agency in the same was as confiscated money.
All of this is after the case has gone all the way through the court system. As a note, money must be over a certain amount for the police to confiscate it.

The drugs are disposed of. (All drugs not used for training, after their value as evidence is over, are incinerated under police supervision by a bonded disposal company contracted to our department.) The money is usually used for training, equipment, community outreach etc..., though some cash is incinerated also. (I'm not sure why , I'll ask one of the senior officers in narcotics, or maybe another officer on here will know.) Property, such as vehicles, boats, planes, and houses that are seized as profits from drug sales are either put to use by the agency that seizes them, or are sold at auction and the proceeds funnelled into the department to be used for anti-narcotics enforcement and education. Hope that helps.

It's not lame - it's what happens. Actually, the money is returned to the Federal Reserve. The drugs are burned or otherwise destroyed - or used in stings - and the weapons are broken down and melted.

ok, the drugs are burnt, I have personally been the witness to the burning of tons of pot. ( it is always held to after the trial)
The weapons are normally destroyed also.
the money is either taken by the police department, or the city, county or state and used according to the rules of that department. Cars are taken for undercover use, department use and also latter sold at auction.
Things like TVs, sterios computers and the such are all sold.

cops keep the drugs and the money and vehicles. they may sale the vehicles at auctions put some of the drugs back on the street the money they keep for themselves. the right thing for our law enforcement to do would be put the money in a fund for the victims mostly the children that are victims.

im guessing it is filed (accurately or inaccurately) in a storage container so some crooked individual decides that the government is not paying enough so they steal the booty and sell it to arms dealers and dope dealers to get more money. then they bust those people and confiscate them again and process starts all over again.

Democrats get the money, and take the drugs. That's why they have no answers for anything. They are very good at whining.
