You have to make it different than cherry, so blue it is. Reddish purple would be nice, but blue is dazzling and most people's favorite color is blue (mine is, but not slushpuppy blue--I like cobalt blue.)

Focus groups and researchers have determined that people love the idea of blue food--didn't you notice that tan M & Ms turned blue? Where did the fall color scheme go? Now there's blue--how does that make any sense? No natural foods are blue--blueberries are actually kinda purple, and not even many flowers are blue. So blue raspberry it is. Green raspberry would be moldy or underripe, red's already taken, purple is grape, gray is gross, black is licorice, yellow is lemon or pee--you get blue raspberry. Blame the focus groups.

They are actually called "blue rasberry" not just rasberry. Its something they came up with I suppose. At least they did acknowledge that rasberries arent blue by adding "blue" to the name.

Blue Raspberry hit the scene, as something Different and companies just ran with it, trying to keep things interesting!

The most common blue beverage flavoring (Jolt, Slush Puppies, etc) is blue raspberry. Why someone would think that raspberry could be blue is beyond me.

Why do you expect raspberry slushies to make sense? They taste like blue - not raspberry - like how cherry slushie tastes like red and grape slushee tastes like purple. None of these things taste like anything but the colour.

All raspberry things seem to be blue. I don't really get it either. What can ya do! Maybe blue is more appealing than red/purple.

everything raspberry is blue, which is dumb considering raspberries are more in the red color. maybe they don't want people to confuse raspberry with cherry or strawberry. even raspberry popsicles are blue and if you look at candies that are raspberry flavored are also blue. yeah, the more i think about it it's so people won't confuse it with cherry or strawberry.

Red was already taken by cherry and strawberry. Blue is something different.

I always wondered this... its like they made them blue so not to confuse them with the strawberry flavour I guess

Not sure....maybe because red means cherry/strawberry already and they needed a color for raspberry.
