I am a dog person. I have found several cats that I liked but I like a dogs disposition more. I have an American Staffordshire. He is currently nursing wounds from a fight he got into with some sort of large cat. Didn't see this one so not entirely sure. He is ripped open where his front right leg meets his belly and he has a hole through the bone between his eyes and just a few inches down where the cats tooth went all the way through. This happened not even two weeks ago and he doesn't feel any pain. That is why I love this breed. They are balls to the wall hunters. The next night after this happened he could barely limp, however, I took him to pee that night and he saw a skunk and started to take off again. Luckily we got his attention before the skunk got him, but that just shows the kind of breed he is. He wants to be with me wherever I am. He doesn't like a lot of quick movement and loud noises, that is fine, I know I am safe. You have to be very well informed prior to having one of these (they are in the pit bull line) or you will be responsible for however the dog behaves. Short story way long, I love what this breed represents and I love knowing that to get to me you have to get thru this guy first (he is 91 lbs. compared to my 110 lbs.)

I have only liked dogs all my life and it's been a long life to young people..Something strange happen after my dog died of 14 yrs. After 8 months of my dog being died I open my front door and this 8 month old cat walked right in.Well I wasn't having any of this...Me and cats don't get along. My son talk me into keeping it for awhile and seeing if she worked out. Well dam if she didn't follow me everywhere.Eat whatever I ate. Run to my car when I pulled up. And slept with me or my son. I was a little puzzled about the whole thing...I called my mom and told her and she said that it might be my dog reincarnated as a cat...Well I dismissed it and thought my mom needed some sleep. Well we have had my cat called Angel for 7 years and she acts like a dog. So what can I say...It's just freaky.

It has always been my experience that dogs are sort of like unrequited loves while cats tend to lean more in the direction of a really passionate lover.

A dog is almost loyal to a fault. They will stick by the side of an abuser and allow themselves to be trained to fight among other things. The only benefits to having a dog are that they seem to be fairly handy as breathing garbage disposals and some are even good as vacuums. For some people there may be alot to say for an animal that will eat the food the kids drop, I however care nothing for the barking and drooling that goes along with it.

Cats generally tend to pick their owners. Many times I have been picked up on by a feline strolling the neighborhood in search of it's next "partner" I believe that's what they call catting around. Cats are typically affectionate as they will rub on you even when you don't feel like petting them back. When you feel down a cat will always give you a nice warm cuddle and purr as if to say "I love you no matter" I would definitely consider a litter box to be a down side to cat ownership but I have trained many of them to use the bathroom outside just like a dog. Unlike a dog you can also let a cat go out by itself for any period of time without having to worry much.

I must say that I have owned both cats and dogs and quite a number of each. I had recently not had a pet of any kind untill I was "addopted" by a gentle nuetered and declawed male last night. He is charcoal colored and looks like my aunt's cat so we named him Mookie. (That's sort of why I decided to answer this Q) He stays outside but still manages to be just as clean as a strictly indoor cat.

I'm sure you weren't seeking advice but simply looking for opinions so that's mine. Best wishes

Love them both! I have 2 dogs....a Lab and a Blue Merle Aussie and 4 cats.........although one lives in the garden. Two of them have been sleeping at the foot of my bed for 10 years...everynight! Good mousers! They earn their keep and they are very affectionate! Would rather have the cats on the bed at night.........the dogs tend to kick too much! LOL I grew up with only cats.........so I may lean more towards cats. My Aussie is my shadow and protector... she also keeps guard with my girls...wont let people near them unless they are known. But I really love them ALL!

Some people are cat people... some are dog people. You can pretty much tell by their personality. I'm definetly a cat person... I hate how dogs hang all over you. Some people like that.

Cats for me. Dogs are ok, but I find them too needy :) I hope to someday be a old cat lady.
