In the 'bullshit department' a businessman can't hold a candle to a clergyman. But I have little confidence in any enterprise or business or investment that promises dividends only after the death of the stockholders

Doesn't it suck to think that this life is all there is? That it doesn't matter? That you might as well go ahead and kill yourself now if your existence ends at the grave? For that matter, why not go ahead and kill everyone and everything that stands in the way of what we want to grab in this life if this life is all there is? Does this thought offend us? If so, why? Is it because deep down inside we know that there's something more?

Granted, there have been a lot of charlatans dressed in clerical robes, but can we judge the good of the majority by the misdeeds of a few? And just because we've had some very bad people who've claimed to be followers of Christ but really weren't, how does that negate His words and the reality of eternity?

It is not a sale it is a natural part of life we are born we die.
God activates soul life at birth the individual makes their choice while on earth as to where they are going to spend eternity.
At the last breath the body the house is vacated.
No one can make this real to you apart from God Himself.

Because for most of the time and for most people life has been 'nasty, brutish and short'. It was also posited as a way to explain injustice. As it was argued that every injustice was rectified so it was said that when injustice was born in this life it would be redressed it the next.

We don't know what comes after death, we can't possibly know this, and it scares people: We like choices, and here we don't have one. Being told it's something good instead of something bad gives people comfort. (As does telling them they'll continue on, instead of simply ending.)
