I have a german sheppard/cattle dog mix wow. When I got her the lady said she will be very smart and was she right. This dog is now 10 months old and can understand at least 50 commands. I ask her to go get daddy and she'll go bark at my husband and get him to the steps to come upstairs. She pushes snooze on my alarm clock. She knows the names of all her toys, opens doors, and learned all basic commands like sit, stay, leave it, play dead in a matter of minutes. She's almost to smart cause she know how to manipulate people lol. Im not saying she's the smartest dog there is but she's my little doggy genius.

Theres not any one breed...it just depends on the dog. Everyone always told me that labs were the smartest dogs and then when I got one he was so dumb but he was sweet. I have had my fair share of smart and dumb dogs. Right now I have 4 dogs in my house all of the same breed and 2 of them are really smart and the other 2 are pretty dumb...so it really just depends.

I've had several different breeds of dogs over the years. Lots of entertaining personalities and characteristics. But the smartest, by far, are labs and golden retrievers.

Well we just recently got a dog and before we did we did some research on all different kinds of dogs and their personalitys'. And I found that Sheltie Sheepdog Mix is an extremely smart breed.

People will say whatever kind of dog they have or like. But, experts say that it is either a border collie or a german shepherd! Border collies can find their way home from MILES away and german sheperds are great police dogs (some examples). So, even though people say its the kind of dog they have or like, its really TRUELY these two, others come in close behind it!

Siberian Huskies. No other dog is smart enough to disobey their owner if the owner wants to do something stupid- like drive a sled onto thin ice. Any other breed will have everyone drowned within minutes.

it is not always a specific breed of dog,tho the most documented of the smartest breeds is the German Shepherd,Border Collie,Standard Poodle,and Lab.Tho i have a Dachshund and she knows over one hundred commands and tricks.
