i,ve known this guy for 3 years we havent slept together or anything,we get along great most of the time and we,ve had a few ups and downs.he is constantly telling me he loves me and want s to be with me no matter what i really have never felt quite the same which is why i keep him at a distance.anyway he cant seem to the right thing he doesnt call me when i telll him to sometime he goes long periods without contacting me then he calls and begs me not to cut him off.he has broke down literally several times.even when we stop talking he returns at some point.what i wanna know is why wont he just leave me alone completly if he cant do what i ask of him?? anyone can help me understand this.

This guy just wants to know that you're available for him when HE needs you to. He wants to know he can go for a long time and when he gets back, you'll still be there for him. He's making you waste your precious time, so don't follow his lead. Tell him to make up his mind or walk away, it's just not fair to you. He's manipulating you and never considers your real needs.

I don't think he really likes you that much, but he still likes you. He's holding on to you for backup while on the other hand, he's, my guess is, probably looking for some other girl better than you. It's your decision whether you want to dump him or not.
