Rule of thumb, you must to stay away from any shampoos that contains mostly water & salt- they are bad bad bad for your hair. Sadly most shampoos out there are mostly made out of those 2 ingredients: water & salt. Don't believe? Go to a regular supermarket and read the back panels. And yea, that includes Pantene and John Frieda! I'd stay away from those, especially since your hair has highlights. The best shampoo (&conditioner) for color-treated hair that I found so far is called Pureology (it contains mushroom & Nano Technology which is the smallest molecule that penetrate deep into your hair, making it feel and look soooo healthly) - mind you they're also the most expensive shampoo I ever bought! But great products always have price tags on them but I think it's totally worth it. If you go to their website you might get free sample, I don't know, but it's worth looking into.

Oh, the cost? Well my shampoo costs $40 (and that's a discounted price!). Conditioner the same, also $40. I know, yikes, huh? OmG, but it's totally worth it though!

Ok first and foremost what most people here obviously don't get...is that if you have highlights you don't need color protection in shampoos or conditioners, because color wasn't added. Therefore, they can't be stripped or removed. The only way to get rid of highlights is to grow them out, or color over top of them.

The highlighting process consists of using hair bleach, to remove the color from your hair...therefore you need a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner if you have highlights.

The only exception to that is if they put a color over top of the highlights. For example, say if someone had dark hair and wanted red highlights, they would pull the hair through the cap (or weave with foils), bleach it, and then put the color on.

However, considering your highlights are blonde, it sounds like all you did was go through the bleaching process. So, since you don't have color in your hair, you do not need to go for a Color Care shampoo.

I'd definately go with a Salon moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. A couple good salon moisturizing shampoos are Biolage Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioning Balm, or Nexxus Therappe Moisturizing Shampoo w/ Nexxus Humectress. (Links below)

I love both products!

You can get both at salons, however, a while back I saw the Nexxus products at my Kmart (which the price was a little cheaper at).

They run between $8-$15 each, but it's well worth it, plus they last longer than regular shampoos and conditioners that you buy from the store.

JOHN FRIEDA SHEER BLONDE

Theres conditioners and shampoos that boost your highlights and make you blonder. It seriously works too, I used the shampoo once, and I came downstairs and my mom was like did you dye your hair?

Its not like a major difference, but it makes your hair brighter and shinner cuz it has like lemon and stuff in it to help.
