I am the maid of honor for my best friends wedding, and I am in the process of planning her shower. Her and her future hubby already live together in a condo. I do not want to have a money shower for her. I think that is so impersonable. Does anyone have any ideas on what type of shower I could throw for her.

Some ideas of ones I have been to are:
- kitchen-- but she probably has everything
- pound party-- everyone brings a pound of something-- steaks, nails, condoms...
- lingerie
- garden party-- if she is out doorsy
- charity-- if they have everything, why not give to those who need it the most?

Good Luck!

You're right, money showers are plain RUDE. Good for you for realizing that.

You don't have to plan any theme for the shower-- a general wedding shower requires no theme!

But if you DO need a theme, have a kitchen gadget shower, or a recipe card shower, or a tools and gardening shower, or a towels and linens shower, or an around-the-clock shower (people are assigned times to buy a gift for that part of the day), or a gourmet food shower, or a leisure-time shower, or a wine shower, or theme it in a color that would match their decor...

To the person with the charity shower idea, that's a well-intentioned idea, but actually it's against etiquette to call something a gift to the person when you donate it to charity, and it's not polite to tell others to send $ to charity instead of gifting you, either.

As she's your best friend, you should have a good idea of the favorite hobby or pastime. Find out what that is, i.e. is she into the Chinese or Indian culture? Do up the place you hold the bridal shower in, in all Chinese decoartions, ask everyone to arrive wearing something red/or Chinese style, serve Chinese appetizers (along with the usual stuff) & for the prizes awarded during the game time, give out inexpensive Chinese trinkets. If she has a hobby do the shower related to that, you guests should still bring whatever they want as gifts though.

you may pass countless procedures with this. you have a bathtub for them the two as a pair. in case you in basic terms desire to grant it in her honor then you definately can in all probability make a call from right here: Bridal Luncheon - iciness - warm beverages and finger sandwiches form of factor. undies Bridal bathe - precisely what the call involves. Or have a Bridal Tea Luncheon - those are continuously large around 2 with tea and presents. some super ideas for favors are bridal bathe scrolls, advice enjoying cards, candy, bathtub salts, mint books - the record is limitless - a lot of distinctive possibilities, that's what you experience maximum gentle with information superhighway hosting.

I'm also throwing a bridal shower soon (next month).

Here is what I am doing/have done (maybe I can give you ideas from my idea):

Sorry for the long post!

I am having a shower with a "wine tasting" theme. I'm throwing it at a local winery in the wine cellar room (You can't see it in the picture, but there are wine barrels all along the right wall.): http://hiddenlakewinery.com/cellarrm.htm...

When I sent out the invites I designed them with grapes in the background to accentuate the wine theme. I also included a map to the place, an RSVP card (w/return envelope), and an insert of the registry info. (I got the addresses from the bride of who to send to.)

I have decided to stay with the colors of the room (and not the Bride's wedding colors) and am having wine colored tablecloths, and gold plates/napkins. I am also borrowing hurricane lamps that I am going to put a candle in as the centerpiece on the table. I also bought some wax grapes to decorate the head/food tables. I am also going to get some shower balloons to put on the gift table.

Food wise I am having appetizers (the winery will prepare them) of cheese & crackers, fruit & dip, and a cake. I am obviously having wine since this is a wine tasting themed shower, but am also bringing in punch.

I have also purchased a bridal shower book (from the party store) that I am going to have all the women inpart words of wisdom to the bride in, and leave their address in for thank you's.

As for games, I plan on doing the purse scavenger hunt (Make a list of items for women to find in their purse. The one with the most wins.) and the toilet paper bride, and want to do one more, but have yet to figure that out. For prizes, since I don't have give-awayable centerpieces, I bought some spa goodies in the dollar spot at Target (Check that out for some good stuff!).

As for favors, since I am having the shower at the winery, I am giving away engraved wine glasses as favors (They have the winery logo, and are $2 a piece).

I think that's about it..... I hope my experience has helped you get some ideas. Feel free to email me if you want to talk about it, maybe my experinence can help you, or maybe you can help me with mine. LRALOU8_2005@yahoo.com

GOOD LUCK!!! :)

You could do a lingerie shower. You can never have too much of that! Another option, if they can have a garden and like that kinda thing, you could do a garden shower. If they like to cook, you could do a recipe shower where everyone brings a recipe and possibly the ingredients or other cooking/kitchen stuff. If they have a bar (and are drinkers), everyone could bring bar items and liquor or similar for wines.

I agree with emp. Those ideas are pretty good, or you could try a New York city themed party. I've been to one of those. Everyone wore black and white with accents of silver. All the decorations were in those colors also. It was pretty fun!

You could do a time of day shower. For example on a few of the invites you could put "please bring a gift for the couple to use at breakfast" or "please bring a gift for the couple to use when the inlaws come to visit". Every few invites switch to a differ saying.
