Okay so I'm a teenager with braces and my orthodontist thinks i need a skin graft because the gums/tissue on my bottom front teeth are EXTREMELY thin. He says that with the braces moving/straightening my teeth, the lack of tissue would thin them even more. I am very scared about getting a skin graft (my brother had to have one), and I was wondering if there was anything i could do to build up the tissue on my lower front teeth. PLEASE help me I am very very very scared.

Stop brushing with a manual toothbrush and get an automatic toothbrush. The SonicCare toothbrush is great, I recommend it for patients with receding gums because it will prevent the problem from getting worse. Also, stay away from tartar control toothpaste, it is very abrasive, use a plain paste like Crest MultiCare or Colgate Total.
