I burnt my son real bad with some hot soup, social services is stopping by in an hour for a scheduled follow-up.

well, why is social services stopping by for a scheduled follow-up what did you do before to make them come in the first place, it wasn't over spilled soup

Do your best to give first aid to the wound, apologize to your son, explaining it was an accident. If social services ask, don't point it out. If they ask, it was an accident. The truth is always best. Don't be nervous about it or they will think you are lying. Good luck.

Let them know it was an honest mistake and tell them what you are doing to prevent anything like that from happening again. Tell them what you have done to care for your son's burns (going to the doctor, getting ointments/medication that the doctor suggested, cleaning them as the doctor prescribed, etc) and that you love your son very much.
