I was cleaning up after my puppy and i noticed a white worm alive in her poop. I gave her stronghold(liquid to put on the back of dogs/cats necks to kill fleas and worms) a few days ago so i don't understand why the worm was alive. This is the first time i've noticed any worms. What should i do?

This is completely normal...since you gave her a deworming medicine...the medicine doesn't kill the worms it simply allows the dog to cleanse their system of the worms...so since you found a worm in her poop that means that is working...its supposed to happen like that.

The worms present in your dog's intestinal tract need to be taken care of. Not treating worms can lead to malabsorbtion of their food since the worms are stealing all of the vital nutrients your puppy needs to grow into a healthy adult. Untreated worm infections can lead to a host of other medical problems- so it's best to take him to a vet and go through a 3 day course of treatment. It isn't difficult for your puppy- and I know he'll feel much better without a tummy full of worms and an itchy butt because of the worms being voided. Treatment is fairly inexpensive, and it IS necessary.

All of the answers here are wrong. He has what is called tapeworms. What you see is actually a segment of the worm. The actual worm is much longer in his stomach. They come from ingesting a flea that is carrying the eggs of one. Simply drop by the vet and tell them what you saw. They will give you a pill or pills to give him. Depending upon his size if he gets one or two. He will get either droncit, or cestex. You can NOT buy anything over the counter that will effectively kill these worms. Don't panic they are the least damaging to the pet they are just gross because they will crawl out of his rectum. By putting frontline or advantage on his neck you will kill all other fleas that jump on him. If you are using hartz or anything else purchased somewhere other than a vet it won't work and is potentially dangerous to your dogs health. Revolution is another one vets like though I don't hold much faith in that product. It doesn't work well for fleas so it makes me wonder how well it works for heartworms. Just stop by the vet or call. If you bring the dog in they will charge you an office visit. That is not necessary for tapes. Tapes are about 1-2 inches in length and move. If you saw a longer one that looks like spaghetti then that is a round worm and you will need to give strongid or pyrantel, or nemex. They are all the same thing just different names. Hope this helps.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Read more here https://bitly.im/NuJ11

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

Nothing serious as far as I know.

All puppies have worms in there stomachs.
You can get medication to get rid of those worms or take him to the vet to get de-wormed.

take you pup to the vet and get it dewormed. don't buy worm medicine over the counter that stuff doesn't work and because it has been sitting on a store shelf for who know how long losses it's potency if it ever had any. the vet keeps all that stuff refrigerated and it's much more potent and kills all types of worms.
after you go to the vet to get it de-wormed the worms inside it will die and then you gotta give you pup a enema with one of those fleet enema disposables to flush out the dead worms. or they will continue to make the pup sick. I know because I have raised all kinds of dogs.
the pup more than likely got the worms through their mothers milk. I would de-worm the mother if you have her to.

take the dog to the vet immediately.. the puppy needs to be dewormed.. if the worms do not get taken care of it can cause major problems and can eventually kill the dog.. if you can not get the dog to the vet now go to walmart or a co-op and get the little bottle of liiquid de-wormer.. read the directions and give to the dog as directed.. good luck and don't waste time... also you need to make sure that the puppy gets all of the shots that it needs.. that is why it is best to make sure that the pup gts to the vet now....

The owner of the dog needs to know how to "operate" the dog, same way you can get into a car that's in perfect running order but if you don't know how to drive you won't have much luck making the car go anywhere. If the owner doesn't know how to maintain the training, the dog will soon become untrained again. Read more here https://tinyurl.im/xULPb

People seem to think that once a dog is trained, that's it. Not true. You must reinforce the dog's training every single day in some way. It's best if the owner and the dog go together to get trained. As a professional trainer once said to me "We can train any dog in 2 days. It takes longer to train the owners
