As a Christian I have often felt targeted by other people for the sins of fellow Christians and I feel like I'm automatically grouped in with them. I can't even imagine how it must be for all the Muslims. I was wondering how you have been treated with all the things that have been going on in the world with the extremists. Do you have many people grouping you in with the terrorists? Do you have any particular stories about persecution you have received for your religion?

Peace unto you,

Thanks for the thoughtful caring question. Yes, as a Muslim it's became normal to be grouped with criminals I have never met, share views with, nor ever want to be associated with. When a crime is done one feels twice the sorrow, first for the victims of the crime, second sorrow and fear that you'll be a victim a backlash soon. We had people spitting on us, bomb threats, humiliated by racial profiling, racial slurs, ... but there were incidents of kindness too from many non-Muslims too.

It became something we learn to live with, cause it's everywhere, radio, T.V., Internet, school, store, ...etc. I guess people have been blinded in hatred (like the extremists in our faith) and don't think we have feelings or don't emote. I don't think they are justified in their feelings though, nor do I excuse or tolerate it. I've been told all these stories about how horrible Jews/Israelis are, but did my research and reached out to Jews themselves to clear lies told about them and seen the big picture.

It's my duty clear misconceptions about my faith but some no matter what you tell them only want to hear the lies. Anyone with logic would see through the propaganda, hypocrisy, and biase in grouping Muslims and spewing lies which Islam haters promote.

There's a Muslim campain on this type of hate, check this out:

My family is Muslim. The media was pretty bad targeting "Muslim Terrorists" instead of just "terrorists". They're all American citizens and love this country compared to where they came from. They've lived here for over 30years. And yet they were afraid of the ignorant bigots targeting them for violence. They flew their American flags more visibly than they did before just to make their point known that they're Muslim, but they're also Americans. Thankfully nothing has happened to them, but everytime I walk into a forum about terrorism or religion I always see someone bashing Muslims. I just try to dispell misinformation and stereotypes.
I'm glad you're understanding, and don't believe in the propaganda. I would never judge a whole group of people by the actions of a few. Yet some of the stereotypes are like a bad stain that just won't go away.

Ever since 9/11, and the starting of the War on Terror my family and I would watch the news while they start mentioning "Islamic Terrorists". How could they say such a thing like that? Islam does not do any of these conducts of violence and even if it is said in any verse we still do not perform it. I won't make sense If someone else in CNN says "Christian Terrorist" or "Jewish Terrorist". I hope you aren't offended. But, I see that as rascist and hatred just from that. Many people in chatrooms even Yahoo! Answers refer Muslims as Terrorists and Murderers, etc. It doesn't make sense. If a Muslim does it it doesn't mean Islam says to do it as every man does sins and mistakes. A Muslim who blows themselves up goe to hell. The world is being scary and frightening place to live. I understand what you are going through and I just hope you peace and I pray for World Peace. Thank you for the question....

Actually the worst i've experienced has been right here on yahoo answers. People are more willing to insult and incite others to hatred when they arent face to face. Outside, especially on the tube you get looks and stuff, sometimes swear words or signs, some people want to fight. It makes you feel more isolated and less willing to engage in debate because it seems like there is nobody listening. I condemn terrorism absolutely as haram in my religion, but no-one will hear that, they would prefer to shout and scream in my face.
