15 minutes later than they did last year but remember the child and teacher pay the price for late nights.
As a teenager, I was in my room for chill down time by 8 and lights out by 8.30, brother at 10years old was long since asleep.
My older children were always in bed asleep by 8 through early primary years and only got a reprieve of 15 mins as they got to 10 and 11.
TV can be a stimulant to some kids so I wouldn't recommend the TV babysitter to lull them to sleep - they have to do it for themselves -reading is good at that age though!!

During school weeks a ten year old should be in bed by 9 pm and lights out by 9:30 at the latest. Children vary by their gender as to how well they behave, learn and play at this age. Boys do seem to behave and learn well with earlier bedtimes. Hope this helps good luck.

other questions to think about are, what time does the 10 year old need to get up for school? 10 year olds need about 10 hours a night sleep to perform well at school

also good is the hour before bed, allow them to wind down. the rest before aids the 'sleep' chemicals from their brain, start to flow out and shut down the system for sleep,

have a routine you stick by 90% of the time, yes some days it will go to the window.

do not engage in any shouting match or chat with them once you put them to bed, most bed time tears and demands for the toilet or drink are just to get attention from you.

so combined with a healthy diet, good number of hours sleep per night regular, makes for a happier, healthier, freindlier child, that will be able to learn more at school, less likely to be the bullyboy/girl ring leader or disrupt classes, a lack of restorative sleep is dangerous, leading to prone to infections and prolonged recovery times, tummy problems cause the body is struggling to digest food and even pain in the muscles, al cause restorative sleep occurs in the deep sleep phazes if a child is up and down evey hour they never will achieve this essential sleep state and suffer alot and so will the family

I was in bed by 8pm at 10, got 9pm by young teenager years.

sorry its a bit long

A child that age requires 9 to 11 hours sleep nightly.
So it depends on what time they have to get up and get ready for school the next morning.

So you should be putting them to bed by 9pm at the latest.
That gives them 9 hours if they get up at 6am and 10 hours if they get up at 7am.

I put mine to bed at 8pm and she gets to read or watch a movie until 9pm and then it is prayers and lights out.

they need more sleep htan we do in order for their brains to function properly as they are on a higher energy plain than ourselves.

For that reason, they need to go to bed at a certain time, say 9pm and read or listen to music for an hour or so to help them wind down and then sleep.

But 9pm is the time for them to put their weary bones to rest after a long day at school.
