Doesn't it say that in Leviticus?

I don't think so, but my wife (Acupuncturist) says it is an acupuncture point that screw up your reproductive system.

God Bless,
Vic

P.S. the reason it was considered a sin in the book of Leviticus was that those piercings were a sign that you worshipped a different God than Yahweh. So it was not just a piercing, you were breaking the first commandment. As that is no longer the case, I do not think it is a sin.

I personally feel it is stupid, and ugly. But that is opinion.

The Bible does speak on this in Leviticus. Now that IS Old Testament Law, but there was a reason why God commanded Israel not to do these things. Because they were part of the Pagan Rituals of the inhabitants of the land. Almighty God didn't want His Chosen People taking up the Practices of their Pagan Neighbors.

He said to be Holy, for I am Holy. Does that mean Pure ? Without Sin ? NO ! It means to be Separate. Set Apart. That is why these practices are forbidden in the Bible.

( By the way: NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY THE EARTH IS FLAT !!!!!)

Leviticus does not say naval piercing is a sin mortal ,or other wise. According to Strongs Concordance there is no mention of it. There may be mention in another form. In this form it is not.

Mortal sin destroys charity in the heart of man by a grave violation of God's law; it turns man away from God, who is his ultimate end and his beatitude, by preferring an inferior good to him. Mortal Sin has three elements.

1. its subject must be ‘grave matter’;
2. it must be committed with full knowledge, both of the sin and of the gravity of the offense;
3. it must be committed with deliberate and complete consent.

There may have been a time whe body piercing was a Grave matter but it has become trivial in this age, the vatican website doesn't have any mentioning of piercing so youc an neither know of it as a sin or deliberately pursue it. It treads close to one of the Deadly sins in Pride but also to one of the Virtues in Joy. You could interpret that God made your body as it is and doesn't wish it modified but he didn't make you with clothing and somehow that's not a sin. Ultimately you should look at the definition of Mortal sin and decide for yourself if there's any element in getting a Bellybutton piercing that would turn you away from God. I can't fathom one.

If you want to pierce your naval, go for it. It's nobody's business but your own.

Don't listen to some silly story book that says the earth is flat, that everything was made in 6 days, that the world was flooded but Noah survived, that virgins can give birth, and all that other ancient B.S.

Listed below are the contents of the all 192 issues of Dennis McKinsey's "Biblical Errancy." This guy proved for thirteen years that the bible is a flawed piece of literature.

We're no longer bound by the old Testiment laws, but by reading them we get a good idea of what God says is right and wrong. Leviticus also tells us not to eat pigs, but I have no problem with eating pigs myself. The reason God probably said that, was because at that time the Isrealites had no eficiant way to cook the meat, and thus would get sick and die. The law was for their own good. About naval peircing... is this something that's going to help you lead others to Christ? Is it going to sit right with your parents (if you're a kid)? Pray about it, and if God gives you peace about it, go for it! But also, don't be afraid to give this up if you think it isn't God's will.

What is the motive for getting the piercing/ Is it to attract a member of the opposite sex? to feel the pain? to look different?
It's usually motive or attitude of the heart that makes something like this a sin. As long as it's not being done to appear immodest, i think it's probably ok. Jesus judges the heart, not the outside appearance of man.

Naval piercing is NOT a mortal sin! It is a challenge to see if you can stand the pain and discomfort.

It is not a mortal sin.

It is an advertisement.

If you think long enough, you will figure out what it is advertising.

And it has nothing to do with Leviticus.

Naval piercing really pisses the Navy off. They go to a lot of effort to make sure their ships stay afloat.

However navel piercing is a sin unless you have nice abs.
