Many of the first immigrants went to North America because they had split from the main Christian denominations and were no longer welcome to practice "their" religion in their home country. Others followed later but mainly from Europe which was predominant Christian.

As some of the others here pointed out here the Founding Fathers of the USA were Christians, and those are the reasons for today’s prevalent views and prejudices, which also influence policies and politics in the U.S..

Unfortunately, from the beginning most of these “Christians” adopted the justification for self-defense, which is NOT taught by Christ. It “justified” the suppression of the Indians defending THEIR property and produced those “Western heroes” (gunslingers) we see glorified in the western movies. It also justified the "right to bear arms", the enormous weapons industry and now the weaponization of space.

Recently this justification for self-defense was expanded to “eliminate” possible terror suspects (like Saddam, Taliban etc.) “with pre-emptive” force.

Well, this does NOT jive with Christ’s teachings and those Christians who are supporting these policies should confess, regret and ask for forgiveness.

America was founded on Christianity.

It's that simple.

Christianity makes up 90% of America.

Muslims 1% and Atheists 0.5%

The forefathers, however, because of the diverse Protestant and Catholic religions, decided to NOT make AMERICA a Religious state.

One day, if the Muslims keep this junk up, we will. We may just become a National Christain state.

Right now, anyone is free to practise what they want.

Let's get something PERFECTLY CLEAR

You will NOT see a Jewish Synnagoge in ANY Muslim nation.

Not a one!

Christians Churches are often stoned, desecrated or their follower harrassed.

In AMERICA, Police, the National Guard and the Army WILL DEFEND TO THEIR DEATH a Muslim Mosque that does not house weapons or clerics who preach terrorism.

WIll Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan DEFEND A JEWISH SYNNAGOGE TO THEIR DEATH to let the Jews practise their belief.

Eh?

Why so slient!

Did you know EVERY islamic nation FORBIDS the importation of items made in Israel, but Israel dosen't forbid any objects made in Muslim nations!

Why is that!!!!!

Why are Muslims BIGOTS!

Jews aren't!

They go to the Arab bakeries for bread on the sabbath!

Muslims are BIGOTS, plain and simple. They are the KKK. Muslims are to JEWS as the KKK is to BLACKS.

No matter HOW you slice it America, Britan, Sweden, Norway and Israel are MORE OPEN to every culture than ALL the ISLAMIC NATIONS. Not single Islamic nation is tolerant.

Don't believe me, just VISIT a Christian or Catholic church in an Islamic nation on a repeated basis and SEE what happens to you after a while!

I think because that's what the media focuses on. You should just look around, talk with people and ask what they're thinking. You will most likely find very diverse answers. Also, this country has not come to terms with the fact that America was founded mainly around profiteering and consumption of Natural goods under the guise of religious freedom. Focus on the facts and let the small minded stuff left to small minds.

The middle of the country is.

As a side not this country was not founded by Christians. Some of them were, many were not. There were non Christians and atheists among the founding fathers. at least five in the presidency.

The bill of rights in no way resembles the ten commandments.

When christianity spread into the world, alot of people, tribes, and nations were given the options to either convert or die. That tactic made it the single most powerful in the world at that time.

In America, most of our leaders are chrisitian. As much as I'd like to think otherwise, they are unable to seperate their hearts and heads, meaning they their emotions impact their logic.

Another reason is that, it is a dividing factor. If you focus on something that creates differences in people on a fundamental level, you'll be able to blind them to the things that actually have an impact on the nation as a whole.

Because it is MAINTAINED focused around Christianity. Check Kansas education board! Check Bush´s religious fervor! Check the televangelists, the Jehovah witnesses, the Mormons, blablabla. It´s a hype, not a buzz...

Well, one reason could be that Christianity is the religion our country was founded by! Go back and read all of our original documents and such. Read up on why people came here in the first place. Really, Christianity is what founded our country, so it makes sense that it would be prevalent here.

Ironically enough, true Christianity (based on the Gospel of Love,Grace, and Peace) has become extremely marginalized. Many Christians treat church (if and/or when they go) as a motivational speaking assembly.

Our founding fathers were mostly free masons... that is a religious/christian based secret society. And the reason the pilgrims came to US was for freedom of religion.
