Yes. There are a lot of misunderstandings about various cognitive and mental health disorders. Most physicians and educational professionals have extremely limited comprehension. As a psychologist, I often have to fight for very bright individual's with ADHD to remain in advanced classes. Many individuals seem to misunderstand that with the proper medication and skills building there is no need for lower academic placement. Such lower placements tend to frustrate the child or teenager and can be harmful to self-esteem. All of which could have been avoided with a little patience and proper treatment.

Are you talking about a psychiatrist or psychologist? ADHD effects each person a little differently. Some professional would make no sense because they are crazy themselves and have no business trying to help other people. The field really needs to address this problem.

Intolerance is a normal reaction for someone with ADHD. To be understanding, tolerant or accepting of anything would be logically contradictory... Like a dog without a bone...Like a fish out of water.

The only real success I have heard of (in the treatment of this condition) came from a lady in Idaho who takes care of 12 children with this condition.. She says that just by eliminating any sugars from their dietary, they respond normally. Also, coffee is not a stimulant for anyone suffering from this condition.. it tends to calm them down.

Nope. I have ADD and I have to explain it to not only my college techers but also doctors at times and other "professionals" and it bugs me. But I try to ignore their ignorance or educate them as best as I can. Education is the key.
