Anyone know the exact factory speaker size in a 2002 VW Jetta GLX V6??

I thought it was 6 1/2 at first, but then I took the door panal off a few minutes ago and it is WAY smaller... I just can't measure to see.. I thought it was between 5 1/4 or 5 3/4. Any help would be much obliged!

You can use a 6.5 or a 5.25 speaker in that car but you have to drill out the rivets that hold the speakers in the doors and then build new adaptor rings to space it out from the window. Notice the rubber ring on the factory speaker that comes off? That seals it to the door panel, so if you want really good bass response from new speakers, use some foam tape (weather strip) to seal it instead. It's kind of a pain in the *** job, but worth it in the end.
