I am a martial artist and I want the kind of strikes that go through the opponents muscle and fat so that he feels it in his bones when I hit or kick.

It isn't going to be so much the weights as much as it is the style of excercise. You don't want bulk. You want speed. You want to do plyometrics. For example, when you bench press, you want to make sure you explode on the up portion and controlled on the down. You also want to make sure you do a high amount of reps. Do 3 sets of 15-20 reps. That should do it. But make sure you EXPLODE.

If it's power that you're looking for you can cross train with cardio and weights. I would start out light if you haven't weight trained before, and gradually build up to heavier as you get stronger this way. Don't try to lift everything heavy at first if you haven't done it before, especially you, because of your joints. Your joints are very important in your martial arts and you don't want to risk any injuries to them. Start light and do full body training, and then increase gradually.
Some cardio would benefit you for endurance, you can perform longer if your heart is up for it, hopefully you aren't holding your breath alot when you are doing this, as this is hard on your heart. Hope some of this helps some.......
