Well honey, I'm in your boat...I have a 4yr degree in Psychology and about to become a nurse. The problem is I've juggled with about 8 different occupations before I reached this decision.

1st you have to decide what is it that you can SEE yourself doing in the next 10 yrs?? Working with people, in an office, behind a computer, traveling, providing care, or teaching others...?

2nd, are you willing to sacrifice time to become educated about the field, going back to school, taking classes online, etc...?

3rd, research the occupation and learn the good days and bad days of the job, pay, and where is most needed if you're willing to move...

4th, if you believe in GOD, PRAY ABOUT IT!

It seems alot of people are in this predicament, but don't think you are running out of time. Take your time to find out about what you want to do, don't look at others and how much they are making, see yourself doing something u would most passionate about. I wish you the best....

Whoa there... what do you mean you are running out of time?? Not many people these days do the same job all their life.. so you can change anytime you want!
Are you at school and wondering what subjects to choose? Ask a careers advisor, or use the following guidelines if you are really unsure.
Always get Math, English and IT
Next choose subject you ENJOY... the reason is, you will probably do well in them.
Next choose subjects you know you can do well (Probably the same ones you just chose above)

Remember, when you go to college/university/interview, as long as you have the 3 first mentioned, the rest will be a matter of getting good grades....

5 GCSE grade C's in a mix of subjects will get you into most A Levels.. and so on up the scale.

Good luck, try to talk to someone though.

Unless you're about 98, you're not running out of time to decide. Lots of people who think they know when they're 18 or so what they want to do end up changing and doing something else entirely.

If you're coming to the end of high school and have to decide on college, you can either take a year or so out and find a job, or go to a college with a wide variety of courses of study, and sample them and find something you like. There's lots of college courses that count toward almost any degree, so you won't be wasting time.

If you're in your 40's and are still thrashing around trying to find something to do, then maybe you have a problem and need to focus.

The other thing - most people don't have some great career that makes them famous or lets them save the world. Most people find a job that they like reasonably well that pays them enough to live a reasonable life. Education helps you get a decent job.

You never run out of time. I am not sure what you mean by that. I am 26 and just decided what I would like to do.

Well? What qualifications have you got? Or are you predicted to get?
