so far this is the best question i have ever seen asked-thanks. i am a christian- but i am not a strong beleiver. i know that sounds strange but you have the right idea in saying that people beleive in whatever makes them happy. i am happy beleiving in God but there are things that i don't agree with. their are those that beleive very strongly in God- my opinion? they need to believe in him so strongly becuase they needed to be saved-you not beleiving in God just means that you are fine with who you are. beleive what you believe and let others think what they want-your great the way you are!!your not lost and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

People can only preach about what they have been taught! If you look into the other religions you have mentioned even telling them you dont believe in God, they would tell you that you were lost as well. Judaism still believe there is a God, wicca, pagan and buddists worship man, and their definition of hell is to be reincarnated. I used to think I was being judged by Chritians as well, but the real truth of the matter was deep down I knew that the real problem was that I knew Christianity was the true religion and the feeling of being judged was the conviction of me running from the truth. The reason you dont have a problem with the other religions is because their truth can't convict you of the biblical truth that there is a Heaven and a Hell. We can all choose to be a victim and with that mentality ofcourse you will feel judged, but really only a vey few so called Chritians will judge you. One last thing to think about, if there is no heaven or hell you have nothing to worry about, but what if there is.

I believe in a "higher being " but I would NEVER say you are wrong in your own beliefs and a good *PERSON* whether Christian or not would also not form an opinion of a person they don't even know. I guess I'm also a bad person or maybe I will burn in hell because I haven't yet decided what EXACTLY is the religion to heaven (so to speak). Its more than confusing because each and every religion in itself says THEIRS is the way to the Kingdom. So as I said I believe in a higher being but I can't give it a name exactly because at this point I am very unsure, I mean what if I'm Baptist and its really the Catholic religion that is the correct one (and so on and so on). All I can say to you is if someone JUDGES you again just turn around and tell them they aren't being very good "Christians" judging you.

First off, thanks for saying "Most". I appreciate it.
This attitude you're getting is because of many Christian's misunderstanding of the principle of the depravity of man. When scripture lets us know that the flesh can only serve the flesh, it's not saying that unregenerate man can only satisfy perverted lusts or anything. I mean, I know many Agnostics (the only atheist I ever knew recently acknowledged that his beliefs are agnostic), and I've never met a single person that desecrates themself with bizzarre sexual practices involving animals. What it means is that unregenerate man is incapable of pleasing God, because to please God you must first recognize the triune God. Compared to the perfect of God, I am depraved in nature. Judaism seems to be very non-confrontational in the US, and the other faiths you mentioned are based on the person's own ability to be righteous, removing a perfect standard that ALL people should be judged against, if you choose to see judgement. For a Christian to cast judgement on you without recognizing the same nature that STILL exists in themself is to try and claim sovreignty over God (because they are contradicting His Word), which is the exact thing that non-believers do. For me to call you immoral (which I may do if I choose), I must also be willing to point out that I am no less immoral than you. I don't know if this satisfies your question, but I did my best.

Bravo for you!!! I am a christian and I agree with you - each person has the right to his or her beliefs (Christians it's called 'free-will") No one should tell you that you are bad or 'lost'. We don't know that. Jesus said to doubt and seek the truth. So what if you are on a different path in seeking truth than I am? As long as you are seeking truth, and as long as I am seeking truth, we will probably both end at the same finish line. It is so sad that so many people think their own answers are the only correct ones. I may believe, but I keep an open mind that I may not know the truth, I don't think anyone really does, they just think they do.

It is the Christians that are really lost here, When hopeless lost souls come together they have a tendency to look down on others that do not follow their beliefs, they create an attitude that their way is the only way, these people are very insecure in their every day lives, they really do become very needy people, they suck the power out of any one that comes in contact with them, they become nothing more than religious victims caught in a web and not wanting to go it alone, and from my perspective this is how I see it.

A true Christian would not judge you as a bad person or a follower of satan. The term Christian means someone who believes and follows the teachings of Christ. A true Christian is compassionate, understanding, loving, and forgiving of others. A true Christian tries to live his or her life as a reflection of the life of Jesus. Part of the Christian beliefs, however, is to spread the word of Christ. Jesus shared his knowledge with his disciples so that they would share the Word with others. I have a friend from Australia who is an atheist. We have a lot in common (we both enjoy camping, horseback riding, backpacking, etc.). Our friendship is based on those common interests - not on whether or not she believes in Christ. I don't force my beliefs on her, but when she chooses to ask questions, I share answers. In the Bible, John 3:16 states that "God so loved the world that He gave His only son, so that whoever believes in him may not be lost but have eternal life." You cannot be a Christian and not believe that an atheist isn't going to hell - that's part of our beliefs. No one is questioning that you're a nice person with good morals.
I hope I answered your question without offending you or forcing my beliefs on you. It sometimes helps to explain your beliefs in order for someone else to understand them better.

I cannot judge you. It is not my place. No one should be judging you. I don't know your background and how you arrived at the ideas that you have. Personally I don't consider you bad. As a Christian I would know that you have not yet read all there is to read and perhaps not thought about all there is to think about. It is mystifying to me when someone cannot see that there must be a God. I'm not putting you down. It just is very obvious to me that God exists. And I have had experiences (with another realm) that indicate to me that there is something else besides what we can see with our eyes. I have to believe there is something else for how else could the Miraculous Staircase in the Loredo Chapel in New Mexico stand without falling down? It defies our human laws of gravity. How could the Image of Our Lady of Good Counsel hang in the air without nails or fasteners as it has done for so many years? How could the bodies of saints who have been dead for hundreds of years bleed when you prick their skin as though they only died yesterday? Have you ever read C. S. Lewis' book, MERE CHRISTIANITY? He was an atheist. I believe that we are called to search for answers and to find out all sides of the "story" so that we can way these things. I give you my best wishes.

Many of those who profess to be christians are very young in their faith and lay down strong accusations against those that are not believers in Jesus Christ, this is just a maturity issue. When someone accepts Christ as their Saviour and begins the journey of life with God as their guide, they begin a process called sanctification. This is a process of someone learning how to walk by the Spirit of God's leading which involves maturing in the faith, gaining understanding, learning how to hear the spirit of God in their life and learning how to grow in wisdom. So, when people seem harsh, remember, the message of Christ was love.
Always look to the source, that's where you'll find the heart of the message.

The bible doesn't teach us to judge anyone. It teaches love and forgiveness. Our lives are based on choices we make or don't make and I'm sure we all make good and bad ones. If you want to be an athiest go for it but you can be assured alot of people will pray for you anyway. Besides you'll probably have an opportunity or event in your life that will make you question your non belief.

I have the same problem you do, but I don't call myself a atheist, i am just not a church christian.
I think there is a creator, I just have trouble that he was Christ 's father. I believe Jesus was real and is a great teacher. I think to many people have read to many things into the bible.
Remember it was written long ago by men and rewritten again by men. So stories retold are changed . I also believe only only by dieing we will know for sure.
