This lady that drives wants to take three of us that don't drive to a movie, but one clincher--it has to be a movie that she wants to see. Don't you feel that is unfair when each of us has to pay their own way? I mean we could all go into different theaters to see what we want, but we would want to stay together to spend time with each other. Then there is another lady who won't go to something that she doesn't feel is 'good'. (She reads the reviews and trust them. I asked her if she wanted to just try a movie and see how she would like it, but she refuses.)
The third lady will go to anything and I usually do too, but now I can't because night movies are so expensive. Don't you feel that everyone should get an equal say? I feel that the two of us don't.

Everyone should get an equal say but everyone will not agree every time. Where's the room for compromise?

Perhaps this time you see what Lady #1 wants to see and then next time switch.

Now if there is always constant disagreement and disharmony...maybe you guys shouldn't be friends. Or just be friends at a distance meaning when it comes to outings just say "I'll pass."

1. She's inviting you all to join her in a movie she wants to see. No ill intent there. She's even willing to bear the burden of gas for transportation.

2. Politely tell her that it was so nice of her to invite you to see that movie, but that you personally are not into that particular genre, or even the actors. There's nothing wrong with being honest about your preferences. You deepen the friendship when you are forthright.

3. If you do want to hang out after the movie, ask her if they are going out after the movie & can you meet up with them. You could also ask her if there is another movie you both want to see, that you could watch in the near future.

4. If she gets mad, she has to grow up at some point & realize how to handle disappointments. She can't always have her way in life, and she mustn't take it personally if someone doesn't always agree to her tastes. Life's like that.

as expensive as movies have become. you should all agree on a movie before you go. if the women wants to see a movie that you don't, just say i've seen it before. your under no obligation to go see a movie that you don't care for. if they want you to see a movie you gals don't care to see, then let her pay for all of you. you can't really say your spending time together as your watching a movie. i've gone with friends before and they wanted to see a movie and some of us wanted to see others. we hit the movies we wanted to see plus checked out a few others ditching each other to check out differant flicks.

I agree that it should be a movie that you all agree on, or you should each see what you want to separately. They don't sound like they're friends at all.

Yeah, she's on some kind of power trip. Just because she is driving doesn't mean she can dictate. She's being bossy and pushy.
