I honestly don't understand why a woman would prefer a woman only gym?
Do they get hit on a lot in coed gyms? I have never witnessed that.

I can't keep my eyes off of their butts. That's probably why. I ruin it for the rest of you.

I have been hit on in a coed gym. I was working on one of the machines for strengthening my chest, when some guy came up and told me I should be doing that bra-less. I was shocked and complained to the manager, but nothing was ever done about it. I never went back and joined a woman's gym after that.
It is insulting to have some creep comment like that and doesn't make me feel very comfortable getting stared at the majority of the time I am there.

I'd have to agree with the last few comments. I think it's because a lot of women are self concious, and really don't want to be looked at by men when they are trying to work out! I think it may be intimidating having all kinds of men around. Women understand each other a lot more too. Yes, you'll find the katty bit in each one (sayin oh look at her a**) but hey, overall, better deal. My boyfriend thinks it's sexist though, lol. I go to Good-Life Fitness, and it's a women's only gym, and I love it. Don't have to worry about anyone looking at me trying to bust my butt on the treadmil or anything, lol.

It's very uncomfortable to exercise in front of straight men when you know they are staring at you. At a woman's gym, you cn wear whatever you want without the risk of men leering at you. My favorite gym, though, was a predominantly gay gym in Philly. Men and women frequented the gym, so there was a nice balance, but none of the guys there could care less how my butt looked in my yoga pants.

Because women go to the gym to improve their bodies, and some may not want strange men witnessing them in their tights, with sweat running everywhere!

Women tend to be very self conscious. Also, even women who are involved in a relationship worry about how they look to the opposite sex.
At the same time, an all female gym can be even more stressful because women also tend to compare themselves with other women constantly. "Does my butt look that big? I hate that she has a smaller waist than me!"... etc, etc. So it comes down to who you feel most uncomfortable around ... men or women.

Staring and flirting aside, many women are intimidated by the process of working out to lose weight, discouraged by the amount they intend to lose, and self-conscious about their bodies in general. A lot just like the environment better too, like they're just hanging out with other ladies who can relate to them.

some women feel insecure about themselfs. and in some churches women are not allowed to show sertin parts of their bodys around strange men. so they go to an all girl gym

So that they don't have to feel uncomfortable around men. Ever noticed the women who go to those women only gyms? They don't need to worry about getting hit on.

I work out at Gold's Gym. I like it. It's incentive to get my butt to the gym and work my booty off!
