I had the weatherbug on my computer (before i had to reformat it) and i'm not sure if you can use it on uk, but it did flash when there was a weather alert for the area i live in. A lot of tv stations also have web sites and you can download a weather alert from them (usually). You might try that because it would be more specific to the area you live in. Good luck.
