My personal preference is to have no children whatsoever my entire life. I hope to find a woman who feels exactly the way I do. But some people say things like "but if you don't have kids, who's going to care for you in your old age?" Well, how do they know that the child will be WILLING to care for their parents in old age? And what if the worst happened, the child grew up but died before the parents? I would rather save for my retirement myself and live out my golden years with my woman, enjoying life.

AMEN! My husband and I have made the decision (long ago, during dating) that children are NOT for us! Well guess what, all the money you'll save from not having children can help pay for a assisted living luxury condo when your in your 80s. I totally get where you are coming from! I would much rather put all my time/love into my husband than into a child. This world is not all it's cracked up to be, and I don't know that I want to raise a child in it. Kids are hard work and just not for me. People who don't respect your opinion are just trying to make their own justifications. I hope you find a woman out there that feels the same way you do. Sorry to say, out of all my female friends, very few DON'T want children and they all think I'm nuts. :-(

There is more to examine here than security in your old age.
Nothing will automatically provide security at any age. You could be among the wealthiest people in the world and suffer a long illness. And suffer it alone! However, you could be among poorest, but have the comfort of family. through all your adversities.

I am of the opinion that rare is the man who leads a fulfilling life that does not contribute to the reproductive process. This can take other forms. I had bachelor uncles who contributed to the raising of nieces and nephews.

They also took care of their own parents as they aged. While many might look down at this behavior I know they were personally fulfilled in their lives. I know that they experienced the comfort of family.

Stay on the path you speak of, and I can assure you will experience disappointment. Your path seems comfortable because you enjoy the comfort of peers and hedonistic pursuits. These will be of little comfort as time passes.

At the moment you may have a fulfilling career. This will likely pass or not always be the case. Observe older men with the most fulfilling careers. You will likley see men whom also are supported and fulfilled by wife and family.

What kind of life will you lead? I know many a couple with a big house filled with stuff, but empty of family.

The purpose of life, is life itself. To contribute to a never ending story. Develope a dynastic instinct and dream the possible dream.

I have 2 children and soon to be three. Not once have I ever thought of them taking care of me when I am older. LOL but hey you gave me the idea now! tease.
I think you are fine. if you prefer not to have children then that is good for you. Just make sure that your future wife or lady friend is well aware of it, and i mean damn aware you will never want kids. You dont want trouble down the road when she does and you dont. woman can be sneaky, I would hate to have a child be brought into the world that is not wanted by its daddy. there are too many of those already.

Be proud of your honesty, not everyone wants children but for those of us that are glad of ours, they can be wonderful. My daughter says I can live with her when I'm old and I've been around enough nursing homes to know that someone who cares, is worlds better than the best money can buy. Kids can be counted on more than a man or woman in the golden years

Do you want to die alone? To raise a young one who can give something to the future and would say my child did that and hopefully help creat a better world. If a child is brought up with love and shown how much they are appreciated I can assure you they will take care of you in the coming years.

People who have children so they can take care of them when they get older are selfish and stupid.

When people get married they have children because they want to share the love they have for each other. Not for old age caretakers. That's just wrong.

Parenthood is not for everybody. I am glad that you are truthful to yourself. Be happy with your woman!
