You didn't say how large the island was, if there were anyone else there, or how long you were stuck...all which is really important, and affects how I would answer.
Let's say it's a really small island and we're the only ones. I guess we'd have to cooperate to get food and make shelters....I'd hate to do it, and only if it were a matter of survival.
I certainly am not going to stay in the same shelter with him.

If the island is large, once I'd found a source of food, and made a shelter, I'd try to explore and see if there was anyone else there...because if I only had him around I think I'd go nuts....I can't even imagine having to see his face or hear his voice all day long...just thinking about it now makes me want to scream.

For sure, I'd be practicing my swimming every minute to build up my endurance and the distance I could cover, and then start thinking about how to signal, or get off the island.

1. Make a pact to work together — meet eachother halfway, and get a shelter built ASAP & figure out how to start a fire to keep warm.

2. Acknowledge eachother's strengths & weaknesses, so that you can work effectively at keeping yourselves alive.

3. Should you both get on eachother's nerves, agree in advance that you will both walk away until you cool down. You both have parts of your personalities that clash — that's not uncommon. It's how you handle it.

4. Try to find some humor you can share with eachother. Humor encourages good will.

5. Be practical & agree that if sleeping close together will keep you both warmer, you will do it. It is possible that you may rediscover romance during crisis, so you must have a discussion about birth control. Are either of you equipped to handle pre & post natal care? You both know that there are other ways of pleasure without a pregnancy occurring.

6. Make the most of it. Fate brought you both together there.

An awful lot of deep breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. The anger hurts me, not him, and I wish him the best - somewhere else. It would be tough, but why hurt yourself when you can release the anger?

hahaha....i once heard that, if you spent 12 months on an island with the opposite member of sex (no matter who she/he was, or how ugly you found them)...you'd fall in love with that person.
