This is what is known as an oxymoron.

There is no such thing as a cheap but genuine version, unless you buy a copy that comes with a new computer with it.

The retail versions of Windows are overpriced. And the ones that come with new computers are so cheap because Microsoft wants to keep other, BETTER ALTERNATIVE operating systems out of the market.

And Microsoft doesnt REGISTER your copy by your IP address, this would be stupid to use an IP address, since it can possibly change, and if it changes, you would have to register the software again, every time it changed. which would be STUPID.

Instead what the licensing algorithim uses, is a unique identifyer, that takes information from your system board, your total RAM, your video card, and several other unique things about your computer, and comes up with the unique identifyer from this information. This is WHY IF U swap out a piece of hardware, it is POSSIBLE for the installed version of Windows, to POSSIBLY tell you to register the software again.

And USING an OEM verison on a computer that it did not SHIP with IS illegal, PER THE LICENSING AGREEMENT that ships with it. REad it, it does tell you this as well.

So if you are worried about having a genuine version, you need to just pony up the 200 dollars or whatever they charge for the full retail version of XP now, and be done with it.

Instead IF you want to setup a computer for basic email, word processing Choose LINUX. Trust me, you will be so much better off in the long run.

A FREE download of any Linux distribution is way better than ANY version of Microsoft windows. It will run 10 times faster, at a minimum, and be 10 times more secure than XP the first time you boot after installation, than XP is with all the current patches installed, and will come with MORE applications to allow you to do what you need to do, for less.

If you can install windows, you can install one of the modern distro's without any issues.

And well, IF you want to pay someone for support that you will more than likely never need, then pay one of the Linux vendors when you download the one you choose, they can use the money, and if you do need support, you will get it, not in just the first 90 days after purchase, like MICROSOFT does customers.

because of the fact curiously to be nonetheless sealed, odds are that's it actual. while an setting up fails it extremely is often because of the fact the serial style coated with that is not actual or it has already been used. each and each style could be sued in basic terms as quickly as. inspite of the undeniable fact that if the equipment remains sealed it would be puzzling for them to are turning out to be to the serial style and used it or replaced it is going to a pretend. The worst which could take place is that style will fail and you gets the non-actual errors. Do a google seek and you will locate various distinctive techniques to disable that message by applying eliminating particular archives or changing a pair of settings. that is not puzzling to get around the errors. it is likewise common at distinctive torrent web pages to locate itemizing of "business enterprise" keys. those are XP keys designed to allow a company to sign in hundreds of copies of XP. The keys are actually not registered and not checked, so they seem as "actual" on any laptop while used. If it does fail, there are common techniques to get around the priority.

Each copy is registered with Microsoft via a person's IP. When they update the program or send out patches or alerts, it's to the registered IP. If you could find a genuine copy you could download and use it, but it would be out of date and you would be unable to get the updates and patches because microsoft won't recognize your IP as being registered for that version of xp.
