It all depends on the use that the technology is put to. We're already genetically modifying viruses so that they can fight cancer. They are called retroviruses.
Now if one were to say clone a particularly virulent disease and introduce it into a municipal water supply, the result would be disastrous.
So the technology is not the problem. The use on the other hand, can be. Does that mean that we stop research on the technology? Only christians would be that stupid.

I can't see how duplicating a human would ever be a good thing. We'd be robbed of our individuality. It seems too likely cloned humans would be used more like machines. It would take humanity out of the human.

So far evil twins have not taken over the globe, so I'm not very worried about this.

itll allow us to help people with new organs and the like, we can advance technology further...especially medical technology.

The technology itself is neutral. Whether it works for or against us depends on how it is used.

if you're talking about somatic cell nuclear transfer, then it means men are unnecessary. females will be able to reproduce without us and we lose the evolutionary game.

how you perceive that - for us or against us - I can not say.
