training classes.
or when you put her on a leash, keep a "clicker" on you. most pet stores sell them. each time she does that, yank on her leash and click that clicker and say "no" and after a while she will learn.

Well we had the same problem but are dog is 145 lbs. so it use to definetly scare people. We went to trainers all around but finally we got this Halti or there's a Gentle leader that works really well. It was designed to help the arthritis people so it's really good. It keeps the dog undercontrol from rushing people and can stop her from barking when you pull up to close her mouth. Than we where told to make our dog sit until he calmed down. It's not a muzzel. It's loose but when you pull on it closes the mouth and stops the dog. I recommend if you get one you by a nylon choke collar so if she gets out of it she doesn't run off....

Any dog will bark thats part of being a dog.Your dog is just happy to see the kids and people its a good sign. The dogs that dont get excited like that and are skiddish are the ones that end up nipping. She might settle down after being socialized alot.Besides who can be scared of a yorkie there fluffy friendly and cutie and so tiny

My yorkie does the same thing! He is a little over a year old and very protective of me. He hasn't ever bit anyone and I hope never will. He will nip at my children's heels when they run at the house (but that serves them right, they know better ;-) I truly think it is a characteristic of the breed and I am not sure what can be done to break them. We scold Chopper whenever he does it, but at the same time, I like the fact that he is protective of my family and I. Good luck with this, I hope you get some good answers on here!

she is either being territorial or she is scared. take her outside to meet new people "off her turf". if she persists, get her to understand that you are the alpha leader. she will follow you if she learns that. watch the dog whisperer on animal planet. he is great and uses alot of common sense.

the very best thing you can do is watch "the dog whisperer" on animal planet network.
in a nutshell, you need to establish dominance over your dog, and use your body language to get him in line and calm. the dog whispere will show you how to do it

i recommend the dog wisperer... he had a dog like yours on the show and all he did was say "shhhhh" and push on the dogs shoulder and you keep on doing it until he stops... .look up the dog wisperer with cesar milian and its a t.v. show it will pop up...
