The Liver is instrumental in producing certain coagulation factors that help our blood to clot. It is possible that she may have a bleeding problem as a result of this problem Sometimes Vitamin K helps and other times Fresh Frozen Plasma is used to treat the coagulation deficiency. The liver does not produce blood but does produce coag factors (as mentioned previously) nd a protein called albumin. A deficiency of albumin can cause a person to retain fluid in the abdomen (ascites) causing them to have a large stomach - sometimes looking pregnant.

Impossible to tell.
The liver doesn't produce blood. Blood is produced in the long bones of the body (the marrow). The liver cleans the blood of toxins, removes old used up blood cells, and removes foreign bits of stuff (dead germs) from your body. That's why alcoholics get a 'beer belly' - the liver gets enlarged from having to work so hard to remove alcohol (a poison) from the body.

Could you have meant the spleen? Your spleen produces red blood cells. IF that's what you meant, you can live without your speen, your bone marrow takes over in the production of red blood cells.
My best to your mother.
