I ate spicy food at lunch and it always begins to work about now.

There is no good reason not to go during your lunch. Other students went and so did the teacher.
Power trip for the teacher? I don't think so! The teacher is getting class started and more than likely needs every minute available to him/her.
What if you leave and miss important information? Whose fault is it when you don't hand something in or don't know about a test or quiz.
Use the restroom when you have the free time, not during class!
Oh, by the way, I'm a teacher!

intestines and bladder are like a sponge. they can retain as much as needed but when new sources of goo enter, some must come out. while in class, you didn't eat or drink anything therefore your inerds were in a harmonious balance with your body. once eating and drinking at lunch disturbed this balance, your inerds must react accordingly. were you allowed to eat in class prior to lunch, then you would be able to use the potty then. according to the shcool rules however no one is permitted to eat during the boring lectures. so either let us eat in class or your inerds will will disrupt much more than the lecture.

Tell them that you didn't have to go then and by going before you were ready could potentially make your bladder weaker. And if it gets weaker you'll need to go more often, which would require you to leave class more often.

I'd just tell the teacher calmly that each stall (or urinal) was occupied and then the bell rang and I didn't want to be late to class. NOW can I please go?
