No, they don't have enough power, they'll just get jammed.

They might, it is hard to say not knowing what type of clippers these are.

Most home clippers have different lifts that can be attached to the blade head to not shave to the skin. The thicker and coarser that hair is, the less likely you are to like the results. Home clippers are not very good and the blades don't stay sharp very long. Professional clippers are expensive as are the blades that fit them. I probably have over $500 invested in my clippers and blades.

Make sure the dog is clean, dry and combed out before you start. This will give you the best results with the clippers that you have. Good luck!

Have you ever clipped an animal before? I wouldnt do it if you have never done it. There's a reason we have groomers. We are highly skilled professionals that know all the tricks and techniques to get the job done. We dont just walk into a shop and pick up the clippers and do poodles. Clippers are dangerous tools in the wrong hands and I would hate to see your dog get hurt. Do yourself and your dog a favor and go to a groomer.

And NO!!! Dont use human clippers on your poodle!

By the way....good one Casey!!! :)

I'm assuming you mean nail clippers.

Human clippers can split.. I would imagine.. actually hurt the dogs nails and the dog itself.

guillotine clippers are recommended by many of breeders and or groomers. I highly DO NOT recommend those. For inexperienced, you can cause some major damage!!!

WHAT I LIKE?

Just the regular standard dog nail clippers. They look like they'd be used to cut electrical wire.. sorta remind me of a crab claw or something.. but anyway, they have a stop thingy on one side so you don't end up cutting the entire nail off.

Also make sure you have styptic powder around. It usually comes with clippers or you can buy it. You use it if you clip the nails too short.

Ask a vet or whoever to show you how to use them and what to look for.. what's too short and what's just right.

It would be a better investment to spend the money on a good set of groomer's clippers than to use the clippers intended for people. They tend to "bog down" and the blades dull very quickly. And PERSONALLY speaking, you should not bother with the cheap ones for pets. Andis or Oster clippers that are available through pet stores or even online are a much better investment in the long run AND they sometimes come with instructional videos and extra blades or scissors. Good luck and be careful not to clip your baby too close where it will get razor burned, esp. if it is a light colored poodle! :-)

Human clippers will work as long as her hair isn't overly long. You should brush her well before grooming her. Be patient with her. If you haven't groomed a poodle before and she isn't used to being groomed I recommend you take her to a professional groomer.

Yep, i have a poodle too and that's what I use. if your dog's hair is real long, cut it first with scissors or the hair will clog up the clippers, then you can finsh the dog with the clippers. Be sure to keep the hair cleaned out of the clippers and also oil them if they get where they won't cut.

I'm assuming you're talking about hair clippers to trim her fur (and not nail clippers to trip her claws). Answer is yes, they will work... However, if you don't have professional "strength" clippers, they may clog and/or break due to the amount of dog hair you're bound to shave off.

NEVER SHAVE YOUR DOG'S HAIR DOWN TO THE SKIN! Leave at least 1 inch of length to protect your pooch from the sun. Never shave a dog in the winter, because then you will be robbing her of warmth.

No, dogs have tougher nails that humans. Usually they have dog nail cutters that are the same type as human nail clippers. Hope it helps!

It'ss work but it's not good for their nails you're better off just buying a pet nail clipper.
