It just depends on what you're doing and how long you've been doing it. If you'll notice, many beginners are sore everywhere, and this is because they aren't used to doing any of the weight training and their muscles aren't used to doing anything with resistance.
The reason you get sore is because you have "overloaded" and pushed a certain muscle beyond what it is used to doing. If you want to push yourself you will be a little sore, but as soon as the muscle gets stronger and adjusts to this weight you won't get sore again. Does this make sense?
So being sore just means you're pushing, and not getting sore is because you're in condition and you're doing some weights that are right for you. Either way is fine.

Well it depends on what your doing but a little soreness a day after your workout is fairly normal for most activities. The soreness should not last for more than a day though and you should notice less soreness as you workout more. It's more ocmmon for someone who's just beginning an exercise program than someone who's been doing it for a while. Also the soreness should not be very intense. If it lasts for more than a day or is very intense than chances are you pulled or overextended something. This type of soreness can lead to injury. But mild soreness that soon goes away is alright. Muscles get sore when they do not get enough oxygen and if you are doing something that is taking your breath away you are more likely to be sore but if you remember to breath deeply while exercising you will reduce soreness to a certain extent.

I heard that too, but I don't understand how that can be. When you work out, your body is using muscles that it doesn't use day-to-day so that in itself will cause soreness. While I'm at work, I hardly raise my arms above my head so when I work out, my arms get a little sore. Even stretching prior to working out only does so much. Maybe that "new thought" was thought up for those who are lazy.

Never heard that. I think if you are not feeling it then your body is used to whatever exercise you are doing and so it is not challenging anymore-which means you're at a plateau. You might want to change it up a bit. I mean, you shouldn't not be able to walk the next day but a little soreness is not a bad thing.

If you don't work out very often, and one day decide to work out a lot, you'll probably be sore for a while afterward. The idea is that if you work up to it (ie, starting out 10 or 15 min.s if you're not used to it, and gradually longer each time you work out), it shouldn't be that stressful as to make you hurt. Oh, and if you stretch before working out, that'll reduce a lot of the stiffness.

Yes you do need to feel sore, but that is different the feeling pain. If you feel pain, your doing something wrong.

You feel sore because you are essentially tearing your muscles, which you HAVE to do to build muscle, because muscle will repair itself and build on top of it. If your not sore, that means you didn't tear muscle and you haven't worked hard enough or the right way.

you will usually feel sore a day or two after your workout. this is normal because your body produces lactic acid into your muscles, which cause the pain. stretch, drink plenty of water, eat a healthy meal to help repair your muscles and get a massage if you can (this is not a sales pitch, although i am a massage therapist)... it will help with the relief.

Not really. If you're sore, taht means taht you didnt stretch and ease out your muscles after working out. Do some pilates or simple yoga. If you're having the burining kind of sore from lifting weights, then that's normal.

☺ good luck! ♥

It is not a bad thing. Trouble is it can become a psychological thing. If you hurt too much you may dread going to the gym. If you can still get to gym well, then its ok. Problem is hurting really soon after the work out. Means you may have strained something.
