I would recommend following the Therapist recommendations. They deal with the issues that you are experiencing and know what medications are right. A general doctor knows about general medical issue but does not have any type of specialty, so he does not know the best treatment for mental or psychological issues, that is why he sent you to a therapist.

this is a very good question (as this happens often enough)
first do you mean psychiatrist ,therapist and psychologists can't perceive melds
second a psychologist is more capable of perscibing meds for mental disorder than a physician ,give the human mind is there area of study
you should tell your doc. that this change has ben made and go with the scrip your psychologist gave you

Go with what the therapist prescribed, but be sure to tell your doc of the change.

If your doctor was the one who referred you to the therapist , he probably prescribed you something on a temporary basis until you could get in to see this specialist.I would call the therapists office back and ask. Sometimes mixing medications together in your system could be dangerous.

Your doctor and your therapist may not be communicating with eachother properly and your regular doctor may not realize what the therapist has prescribed. It's very important that your doctor knows what your therapist has prescribed so that you aren't overmedicated. Also some meds don't interact well with others.

YOU CAN MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND, WHY DID YOU NOT EXPLAIN IT TO THE DOC. IN THE SAME WAY YOU HAVE HERE. IT IS UNDERSTANDABLE, WHEN YOU SEE YOU OWN DOC, EXPLAIN EVERYTHING TO HIM, IT IS ULTIMATELY UP TO YOU! GOOD LUCK!
