I have been going through this myself the past couple of months. First, you want to start this training as soon as possible. You have to make up your mind that you are going to train her and it is going to take up a lot of your time. Then, every 20 minutes take her outside say to her in a soft voice; "go potty," stay out about 5 minutes. If she goes give her a lot of praise and a treat. If she doesn't go no praise or treat just go back in to the house. Then next week, go out every half hour, etc. Also, you need to watch your puppy at all times; if she walks around circles or puts her nose to the floor - pick her up and take her outside. Some other hints are start out in just a small room at first, put a training pads at the door in case of an accident. I crate my puppy at nite and she has never messed in her bed, but I have to get up early 6:00am to let her out; plus, I don't allow any water 2 hours before bedtime.

I hope something like this helps; I think the main thing I learned was usually when she made an accident in the house it was my fault not hers. No matter, how hard this is don't give up - you might get discouraged and think this will never happen but don't give up; it is all worth the effort. Just think of all the people who have dogs most of them had to train a puppy not to mess in the house and they did it and so can you. My puppy is 10 weeks old and hasn't had an accident for several weeks.

Best of everything to you - enjoy the companionship.

thats easy. get a book on housebreaking a puppy or consult with a dog trainer. Basically, you take the dog out for a walk every 3 hours or so, depending on the age of the puppy. about 1/2 hour after he/she eats or drinks and right before he/she sleeps and wakes in the morning. When the puppy goes outside, praise it, hugs it, kiss it, and give it really really good treats. This will make it want to go outside again. If it has an accident in the house (Which it will at first), DONT yell and especially DONT HIT. if you do those things it will make the problem worse. you should pick the dog up and quickly carry him/her outside. and then praise him/her when you are outside. and if he/she goes again, give another treat.
good luck!
ps- crate training is a great way to go, but make sure that you never leave the puppy in the crate for more than a couple of hours at a time.

Ok first of all you need to get a crate to keep your puppy in when you arent with it in the house. If your puppy is pretty young (6-12 weeks) it needs to go outside about every 30 minutes until it can hold it longer. Some puppies will housebreak very quickly and others will take some time. My aussie had 1 accident in the house ever and my other dog took almost a year to housebreak. Small dogs for some reason tend to take longer to housebreak(not sure why). when you are ready to take him to go potty say something like go outside or go potty when he goes where he's supposed to say good dog and give him a treat. If he goes in the house and you se him do it emmediatley say "no" and take him outside. If you do not see him do it then dont do anything because he will not understand why you are upset. Make sure when he's loose in your house he is always being watched. Good Luck :)

I house trained my pups in two weeks..don't expect it to be perfect its only a baby but -presuming you are at home with your new puppy-
take it out to go as soon as it wakes, after food and if it starts sniffing round looking like it needs to go,and if its wakeful playing etc.take it out every half and hour and gradually increase the time to an hour and so on,
reward with a treat and praise as soon as it has done its wee or poo and if you catch it going in the house tell it a firm no and take it straight out ,dogs just want to please so it will soon learn.Dont expect it to be able to wait all night until its a few months old, just put some paper down by the door you take it out of.If you always use the same exit the pup will soon be going to the door when it needs to go.Keep your eye on it and make a real fuss if the pup "asks" to go out!
Never tell your puppy off if it has made a mess and you didn't see it..the pup wont have a clue what your talking about and will just get confused and never hit or rub its nose in it either.
If you stick to this you should be fine so good luck ..it works honest!

some of the answers u got r just wrong.
right to start with u should be going out with your pup every 3 hours ( the better the pup gets the longer the hours in between )
1. if the pup does his/ her stiff outside: praise the dog ( good girl- just show how happy u r- but alwaysb use the same term to praise the pup.)

2. if the pup pisses in the house: if u actually see the pup doing so u say in a clear deep voice bad ( alway use the same "bad" word) then grab the dog by its neck skin ( this doesn't hurt the pup- its how pups get told off by their dog mum) shake the pup say bad dog and show the pup the mess its made ( show the pup by making it smell the mess. ( i know it sounds mean but thats how its done )
if u dont c the pup pising but just find the piss: u cant do a thing - dont punish the pup ( it wont know y ) jus go out for a walk with the pup
3. go out with the pup afterwards ( dont hold any gudges with the dog- it wont know why anyway- and u could really mess it up by this ) if the pup has any more "stuff" to do act as in 1. ( see above )
4. some dog owners say that the pup shouldnt see u cleaning the mess up ( i dont know y- our dog saw it- and he was clean in no time)
its really important to try and realise when your pup has to go, because than u can "skip" 2.
youve got alot of stress coming ( me and my bf went through it with our dog ) just remember the better a job u do now- the easy ur life ( and ur pups ) will b in the future
hope i could help
ps: always try to avoid step 2 ( if ure not sure wheater the has to or not-- just go for a walk)--> dogs learn faster by positive things rather to been told off

crate training. You buy the dog a crate for it to sleep in. Be aware that you will be cleaning this thing out for a while and your dog will bark. The crate does not need to be much bigger than the dog. Just big enough to turn around in and sleep comforatably. (If youwant to get a bigger crate because your dog will be big, then buy something to sepertate part of it off.) You need to make this cozy for the dog. This way the dog learns it is her home.

Right after she eats take her into the yard, use the same spot or area of the yard every time so she learns where in the yard she is allowed to go. (saves searching the yard for poop later on)Then praise her for going. It may take a while for her to get that you are out there for her to go and not to play, but she will get it. also use a command word every time. We use tee, tee. -its stupid sounding but the dogs understand the tone.

If she goes in her crate tell her no, do not shove her nose in it. Take what of it you can outside to her spot and take her with you. This way you can put it on the ground and use your command word. reinforcing the right spot. She will not go in her home often as she will not like laying in it. once she has learned to not go in her crate move on to the rest of the house. Repeat the training every time she has an accident. Soon she will learn that your house is her house too and she won't want to go in there.

Unfortunatly this process does not happen overnight, so be prepared for some learning mishaps and have patience. It will pay off in the end.

Just take her out every half hour when your home .Some people try to train them to go on newspapper inside and than they move the newspapper outside and they eventually go outside where the newspapper is .Some people just keep taking them out .Your dog will get the idea and before you know it youl have a potty trained dog.I would never bring home a dog with intentions of keeping it outside .Your work will pay off and there will be small accidents.Good luck

Place loads of newspaper in the spot where you want her to go and then try to watch for signs that she wants to toilet and gently place her on the paper and hopefully she will do the job! if she does shower her with praise and offer a treat ( a piece of cheese is always enjoyed ) then just repeat again until she knows to use this spot and then gradually move the paper outside and then from there she will learn where she should go but the watchwords are praise and patience.

Its nothing complicated my friend, without fail through out the day, every time the pup wakes up, you must take it outside very quickly, because it will want a wee. At the same time, it will poo at some time shortly after it has eaten ( quite frequently ). In the night you have no option but to put news paper down. First thing in the morning take him or her outside so he or she gets used to going out first thing. You will be amazed how quickly they pick up the habit. Just have patience, its well worth it, its for a life time....

Crate training is the best way to train a puppy. They enjoy having their own "safe" place, and will generally not go to the bathroom where they sleep. If you are home, you can be sure to take it outside frequently, and praise it plenty when it goes outside. When you leave the house, be sure to leave him in the crate.
